hallo loves....

greetings from the cave. the best news of the day is that i showed neil one of the new Things i'm about to put out (it's a video) and it made him cry. that must mean it's good! hold onto your seats, i'm about to throw a TON of Thingage at you after a slow fall season of Not Many Things. are you READY FOR THINGS? you better eady for Things. Things are coming. sometimes Things happen all at once. this is one of those times. all Things in their own time. to every Thing there is a season. Things Things Things. #things. READY?????

the australian tour is blowing out! sydney has sold almost 1,000 tickets after one day on sale (YAY). australians.....PLEASE PLEASE don't wait to get tickets...everything is now onsale and going fassssst. please don't wait. some of these shows are tiny.

......

i'm trying hard to practice for tour and still failing. it's still going to be great. perhaps trying to brush up on over 60 songs WAS a bit ambitious. whatever.

in today's news...when i was about a WEEK away from giving birth to ash down on the farm in tennessee, i did this photoshoot for sara blakely. she's a fancy young CEO who started a company called spanx, and she made a gazillion dollars and started her own foundation to help mothers in need. she wrote to me when she found out i was pregnant and i asked if i would be a part of this book (it features over a hundred other women, it was just amazing timing).

so a team of three women showed up at our little cabin in the woods and spent the day applying my with over 1,000 little mirrors. it was ridiculously fun. then we did a photoshoot in the farm community center. they had never seen anything quite like this. the farm folks, who make their own tofu (i shit you not) even catered the photoshoot. it was....surreal. and then a few days later, ash popped out of there, imbued with the spirit of gloria gaynor and diana ross.

the book has a ton of other art-bellies - all the rest are painted (mine's the only 3-D one) but if you're an AFP completionist.

i can also now make the bizarre claim that i am featured in the same art book as WARREN BUFFET, who must be friends with sara, because he's in there. with a painted belly. really.

here you go. http://www.bellyartproject.org/

(and you $5+ patrons, i've got some super weird behind-the-scenes shot action coming your way in a second. avert your eyes. crank up the village people.)

..........

You're so inspiring. Being a mom is the hardest thing ever, especially with a small baby. And yet you do the most amazing shit and don't ever stop.

I love this song much!

I love the belly photo. A friend of mine did a lot of belly painting when she was burlesque dancing and 9 months pregnant(think sexy christmas ornament). I may have to get this book for her.

this is very unrelated to anything, but: i woke up from a horrible anxiety dream this morning just immediately crying and breathing heavy and feeling horrible, and i ended up calming myself down by listening to/watching a couple of your videos on youtube ("in my mind" and "bigger on the inside" were two songs that autoplayed and especially helped). so thank you. for being there without even knowing it.

Beautiful party ball! Ash is so fortunate to be brought into our world with your "lightness!"

Oh wow!!!! This Eliot Smith covers thing is AWESOME!!!! Love the "Pictures of Me" covers!!! I saw Eliot Smith at Glastonbury Festival in 2000 and he was amazing - would love to hear you singing more of his songs. Miss Misery is my favourite from "Good Will Hunting". xxxx

I love this photograph. I love when motherhood is expressed in both beautiful and non traditional ways. There are so many different types of mothers in the world and I love when we celebrate the beauty of all of them. Congratulations to you and Ms. Blakely (and those ladies with the tweezers and glue for all those mirrors) on this beautiful piece of work!

Love the effect in this shot! Glad you had the patience to go through the process!
