hola comrades....

first of all...i'd like to WELCOME all the new patrons who just joined this grand experiment of crowdfunding awesomeness. HELLO NEW PEOPLE! we're glad you're here. a few basics: there's a facebook group where people will happily help you learn the ropes, AND i read all the comments. so comment and say hi - i'm readin'. (i also humbly ask you to use the "heart" button if you've read a post. it helps me know who's reading what).

and NOW...SOME NEWS.

the time has come to tour solo. 

super solo.

just me and a piano solo. and maybe a ukulele.

honestly....after the past few years of dresden dolls, the who killed amanda palmer tour (which involved a whole performance art troupe and strings), evelyn evelyn, grand theft orchestra, TED talk and book...i daresay. it's gotten quite distracting.

and i've been told this. and i feel it.

even here on the patreon, it makes my heart do a little cry when people are like "i've read your book and i have no idea what kind of music you make but whatever".

every time someone stops me on the street and is like "I LOVE YOUR TED TALK" and i'm like "oh cool! have you heard any of my music" and they give me a blank stare i'm like AHHHHHHGGGG I'M A SONGWRITER. I WRITE SONGS. SONNNGS. SOME OF THE SONGS ARE REALLY PRETTY GOOD. I ALSO SING THEM MYSELF. I'M PRETTY GOOD AT SINGING MY OWN SONGS. YOU SHOULD SEE IT. IT'S A THING. I NEVER WOULD HAVE DONE A FUCKING TED TALK OR HAD A KICKSTARTER OR WRITTEN A BOOK IF I DIDN'T DO THE THING.

and it may surprise you: i've never actually done a SOLO PIANO TOUR. just me, sitting there, playing my songs. i'll be playing...whatever i want. old stuff, new stuff i've just written, things i'm working on, covers....whatever it wants to be. music. remember MUSIC?

so i'm doing it. i'm only doing a half dozen shows on each continent, and i'm picking very special venues where i can hang around for a few days with a baby (and yes, i may come asking if you guys have room for a mama & a baby and a small entourage of two other people who need crashspace, because i always prefer homes and kitchens to hotels...watch for it)

tickets go on sale tomorrow at 10 am local time. if you're new here: sometimes we use a special code for patrons to get tickets before "the public"....and we aren't doing a code this time. instead, these are patron only links and not being shared anywhere else so be ethical and please don't share these with non-patrons.

p.s. the artwork you see here is by UK illustrator and tattoo artist lozzy bones. it's just a rough draft, do we like it? before she makes a color version we may tweak the design. feedback welcome.
