Hello Dear Patrons....

Love from hardcore lockdown day 34. It's real hard. But enlightening. The truth is emerging from so many places and breaking my heart open to new things.

Would that I had the time to write a whole three-volume book about this shit, but I'm too busy livin' it. Story of my artist life.

Quicklike: we've got the super-exciting patron-only MASHUP song & video that I made with Reb Fountain on the way and that'll probably be it for this month. The podcast and all other projects are going very slowly as I just keep slowwwwwwwwwwing the pace down to raise a goddamn cute kid and just try to gently take care of myself. I've been jogging a lot, drinking a lot of water, and doing 6/2 fasting (eating for six days, fasting for two) to keep myself clear-headed....and it's been a real revelation about my attachment to food and booze and coffee rituals to make me happy.

As I've struggled along in this lockdown, your patronage has meant more to me this month than I can put into words.

I never really knew how much I needed you.

It keeps getting deeper and bigger.

Thank you. Thank you.

I love and appreciate you all so much.

Meanwhile:

I'm floating to the surface to do one VERY IMPORTANT ERRAND!!!

ON OCTOBR 31st, 2021....THE DRESDEN DOLLS (my band) will celebrate our TWENTY-FIRST BANDIVERSARY!!!!! Wheeeeeee!!!!! WE ARE SO OLD! AND IN AMERICA, SOON WE CAN LEGALLY DRINK!!!

Hee hee.

But seriously. TWENTY. ONE. Here we are at age ONE, taking pictures for our first album cover with Lisa Gordon in Boston....

And twenty-one years later, after a lot of stops and starts and drama.....yep. Still going strong, connected by a Punk Cabaret love bigger than both of us.

Brian Viglione. Band-mate. Soul-bro. Playmate. Co-conspirator. I love this man so, so much. Best drummer in the world, and my friend for life.

We were so excited for a hot second to be able to TOUR over our 21st anniversary...and you know what happened.

Covid ate our dreams.

So we thought long and hard about what we could do to celebrate, and we decided to go to once of our favorite artists/designers of ALL time, Malleus, and ask for a super-special 21st anniversary drawing to celebrate the dolls and the spirit of the punk cabaret.

We worked really hard with the artists on what the design should make you feel. We wanted an image that would show the everlasting connection between me and Brian, and the space between us right now, glittered over with hope.

I think they NAILED It.

Now.....WE NEED TO VOTE ON WHICH FINAL COLORS TO USE for the new design!!

So please weigh in! I'm going to put this up on social media too. Feel free to vote wherever.

1. CLAY & RED

2. BLUE & GREEN

3. BLUE & CREAM

We are going to release this as a hand-screened poster (that'll be limited and expensive) and a regular poster, and we'll also probably be putting it on a black shirt. If the vote is close, we may even do two runs of the poster, in different colors! Hand-screening is great that way :)

ON TOP OF THAT, we are gonna resurrect some of the best-loved dolls designs of all time and put a few of them for sale on shirts, tea towels and hoodies.

Oh and hey....

Do you not know my band? WHAT. Go watch a full concert stream, paid for by y'all patrons, at coney island a few years ago. We are an awesome band. Believe Amanda.

We met on halloween night, 2000, at a party at my house. That night changed many lives.

Brian and I are planning to do more work together as soon as we can get into the same place.

We are aching to make more music, it's time.

The Dresden Dolls organizational machine is slightly different from the Amanda Palmer one, so please, I beg of you, sign the dolls free EMAIL LIST so you can get news directly from the band, don't rely on this patreon or my solo mailing list (which I know you're on, right??)

Thanks loves.

Send a prayer over to Auckland that we get a good annoucnement today about lockdown....if all goes well we may be going down a level soon, which means I can at least get a babysitter :)

x

AFP

p.s. There will be a big celebration post of SOME sort when the anniversary actually happens...and with any luck I'll be out of lockdown and Brian and I can actually do something fun. Stay tuned, make sure you're on the dolls mailing list, and....long live the punk cabaret.

Love the contrast of the clay & red!! It'd look SO good on a black tshirt!

I also like the blue & cream, but the clay and red is much more thematically harmonious thinks I.

With regards to your hunger strike, this is really good for head clarity. The main thing for you now is not to worry too much about isolation. Good luck!

Put me down as a “yes I want them” for all of the merch!!

The graphic designer in me says Blue and Green, but the pleb in me just vibes with the red one more. So I voted for that, even if the B&G is way more stylish.

Blue & Cream pops better. I vote Blue & Cream ♥

I like Blue & Cream so much, but the others combos are awesome as well!

Clay and Red just barely edges out Blue and Cream for me. Both are amazing, but the red just pops so well.

Late to see this, but definitely blue and cream(the last one!!)

Blue and Cream is more friendly to my red/green colorblindness.

Congratulations on 21 years! ❤️

I like clay and red and blue and cream. I think I prefer the clay and red honestly. I usually go more for color. They are close. I voted for both because of that.
