(patron-only)

hey loves

this weekend i hit THE SOUTH.

i’ve been posting frequently about abortion news and if you’re in america and paying attention you know about georgia and what’s happening. if you haven’t been....

abortion is effectively being criminalized.

and it’s leading up to a concerted effort to get the supreme court to overturn roe v. wade. women’s human rights in america are in grave danger.

i can't watch this happen without changing tacks and acting loudly. i need your help.

we'll have volunteers from the local affiliates of PLANNED PARENTHOOD at both the atlanta and nashville shows. they need our support, now more than ever. go talk to them in the lobby, see how you can help, volunteer, take action and donate.

also:

the venues i am playing are MASSIVE. this was a coincidence - it was either play the 700 seat house or the 3k one, and i chose big because who ever knows.

this is the cobb energy performing arts centre in atlanta

and the ryman auditorium in nashville...

(i'll be doing a patron ticket giveaway to the nashville show within the next few days, keep your eyes peeled for it.)

................

this is the most personal and yet political show i’ve ever done. i am not going to take for granted that i’m about to go to georgia and speak openly about my own abortions.

if i don’t change any minds, i can at least help break the stigma and remind women and men that they are not alone in their feelings and experiences. and that this fight against fear and fascism is a collective effort.

so this show is, for me, going to be a cross between the usual show but also a rally, a moment, a call to arms. feel free to come early to the show and rally outside with me at around 5:15pm for a photo - let's send a message to the internet about our feelings. oh wait...i may be busy....wait, OH SHIT! that's right!

we are having a WEDDING!!!!!

YES. two of our own, jen & nicole, are GETTING MARRIED IN ATLANTA BEFORE THE SHOW, they've asked me to officiate, and i said YES.

WHY NOT

to do so, i just got re-ordained by the universal life church! YEAH....

so, yeah.

we're gonna do this.

big gay atlanta wedding (plus pro-choice rally?), here we come.

please meet outside the atlanta venue this friday, may 17th, at around 5pm, 5:30pm LATEST.

please bring anything you want to make noise, celebrate, add to the joy.

come dressed for....well, a wedding. you know what to do....

this is their WEDDING. let's make it memorable.

i think i have FOUND A MARCHING BAND!!!!!!

i mean....how could you miss this.

please spread the word - the public can come to the wedding - and we will hitch these freaks in style!!!!!!!!!!!!

.................

and now....to sweeten the deal.

AFP is a liberal only FB sight and does not condone to any conservative debates of views. For the robust kill baby and hate Trump rhetoric I am withdrawing my Patreon. By Amanda

Welp, goodbye then. I wish you'd take the time to understand the facts, rather than looking at this issue through the lens of shallow talking points. It's far more complex than what you think.

Thanks so much for the ticket offer, Amanda. I'm an abortion provider in Montana and I'm coming to see you in Seattle in June! Xoxo

Jen

Sentences are powerful. Spelling is is important as well. When you want to truly debate views you might consider using them. In addition this space exists to support AFP. This is not a debate space. Bye Leigh Rich

This is exciting! As a former employee of the Feminist Women's Health Center in Atlanta & a still vigilant activist, thank you for doing this!

Hey! I requested one of the free tickets for my friend, but she can’t go after all. If I simply don’t pick it up, can someone else get it? How do I forfeit a ticket?

Hope I can attend, and bring One of my "lady geek for social justice" søster friends. ♡♡♡ ✊🏽

Apologies for going waaaaay off topic here, but I'm having a stabbing pain in my left breast. I remembered that you were having breast pain a while back and saw a doctor for it even though you were on tour. So today I took inspiration and worked up the nerve to make a doctor's appointment even though I have the WORST phone anxiety and I HATE going to the doctor. I figure if AFP can get her boob checked out WHILE SHE'S ON TOUR, then fuck it - I can go get a checkup and a mammogram or whatever. Anyway, I know you're not the Official Rock Star of Boob Pain (TM), but I wanted to say thanks. And I hope your boob feels better (and I hope mine will too).

amandapalmer

let us know. for what it’s worth, the doc said that cancer doesn’t cause stabbing pain usually.

Thanks so much for taking the time to go to Criminal Records and sign things. I was going to ask if I could bring a record to have signed, but you have delightfully preempted me. <3 Friday is goig to be AMAZING... AMANDAZING? Yes. THAT.

I am curious - Given that many of these topics have been presented in Amanda's music for pretty much her entire career - through varying degrees of directness and metaphor - how did you come to be here to begin with if your views are that strong? Truth, the predominant number of folks here are politically "progressive" of varying stripes and sizes, so yes, that does tend to dominate the conversation. Jen is right, this isn't really a space for debate, it's a space for fans of Amanda's music to discuss the art, share with each other, and support the art. But I don't think any of this is new. I am genuinely curious what brought you here to begin with considering how you now feel. Of course, you don't owe me answers and if you no longer want to be here, you're free to go. But I haven't been able to stop wondering this since your comment yesterday.

Was down i couldn't make this show and now I'm jazzed. I'll be at Criminal because I have a WKAP album signed by Neil that I very much need you to sign

Hopefully you offered Elton John free tickets, he and his hubby David Furnish live in Atlanta, I don't think they're home much though. He probably would have come to the wedding had he known about it.
