(patron-only post)

hey my loves.

i'm writing to you from a woodstock cafe, it's 11:11.

FIRST OF ALL: if you are coming to my "goth in the woods" party tomorrow in woodstock, MAKE SURE YOU DRESS UP FOR CHRISTS SAKE. i know we are in the middle of the woods, but for fucks sake make an effort ok?

it's JUSTINE'S (aka my french-goth-vegan-anarchist nanny's) BIRTHDAY tomorrow and she's the whole reason we are throwing this party, so prepare to get goth and vegan. here she is with ash.

there's not much else you can get a homesick goth when they are stuck in the woods with you, your weird shy writer-husband and 2-year-old. BUT I HAVE POWER. POWER TO BRING A GOTH DANCE PARTY TO THE WOODS. AND THAT IS WHAT I AM DOING GODDAMMIT AND YOU ARE ALL GOING TO HELP ME.

do it for me. do it for justine. do it for jesus.

DON'T FORGET TO DRESS UP.

for instance.

this is legit:

but so is this:

in order to be standard acceptable goth, you can always grab anybody's wedding dress. white is ALLOWED in goth as long as it's victorian.

or just try something along these lines...

if in doubt....

just wear black and try to add a hat.

OK!!!!!!

and WE WILL BE DANCING ALLLLL NIGHT. wear your gothic dancing shoes.

DJ Mon Amie and the goth-rock band NOIR are both coming up from the city and it's gonna be SICKKKKKKKKK.....

I WILL BE COVERING DEPECHE MODE.

there are almost no tickets left at the door (just a few dozen when i checked this morning) so if you haven't nabbed tickets yet, TODAY, please. they'll be gone by tomorrow night so don't expect to get in at the door!!

Colony
22 Rock City Road
Woodstock, NY, 12498
doors: 6pm / show: 8pm

NOW, on to love you global citizens:

here is your tasty treat for the day....a private link to watch an unlisted youtube clip of us backstage at pioneer works the day we recorded "big yellow taxi". (and the main image of this post is of me and sean lennon giving the final mix a listen. sorry i'm posting it twice but i like how bad-ass we look when we put our work heads on - photo by dan brantigan, the engineer)

 https://youtu.be/X8JChHpa_6w

....it's a recording of a whole take.

feel free to share it among friends but keep it off social media!

this is us, WORKIN, BETCHES. see how hard we work.

MEANWHILE.....

.....

there's a VILLAGE WEBCHAT COMING:

$10+ webchat patrons, we're well overduesy for another village webchat. mark your calendars, the next one will be happening on MONDAY, june 25th at 5pm new york time (you can convert this time to your local time zone here: https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html?iso=20180625T210000&p1=179).

when i go live the link will be published here in a post for all $10+ patrons.

if you are not in the $10 or up reward tiers yet, you can update your pledge to the $10 tier now to join in. these chats are usually stripped back, candid and personal. sometimes there's babies. sometimes there's music. i promise a reading of goodnight moon for this one, we need it.

the webchatting tech has been getting better and better...it's been fun to invite individual people on screen to chat, discuss, love, share.

i'm going to try to talk to you about some of the content-stuckness i've been facing lately, and get your opinions about a couple things.

SO

be on the look out for the link on monday, RIGHT BEFORE 5pm my time. it'll be in yer email.

..........

und now, on to some patron housekeeping....

last month's secret patron-only london parties were SMASHING.

i cannot tell you how magical it all felt - to be oin our own secret space, with our own secret bar and doing our thing all underground, together. those shows were the highlight of my trip to the UK. i loved it so much. i think everybody did. it was...so fucking special.

(here's some photos to remind you how special it was:)

(photos by kenny mathieson)

ANYWAY: tour YEAR (2019) IS COMING UP...and i want to do more of these all around the world.

any time i tour, i'd love to be able to do events JUST FOR US. but i can't do them in every single city, especially if those cities only have 20 patrons....

the london patron-only show sold out *so fast* that i scrambled to add a second one so that MORE patrons can come...and that sold out too. it was bananas. it's very hard to gauge what the demand for these type of parties will be, and one way to do that is to know where you are. yes you.

i have a few ideas up my sleeve for next year, but it would REALLY HELP me to know where in the world y'all live, and which cities are bustling with tons of patrons. i can kinda guess (duh: new york, boston, melbourne, sydney, LA, london, san francisco, chicago....)

BUT, for fuck's sake, patreon does not collect demographic information from you, so i don't know where you are unless you TELL ME. patreon recently added a feature that gives creators the option to ask for shipping addresses to fulfill rewards (if you're in the newly added Art In The Mail $25 and up reward tiers, you were ALREADY prompted to add your shipping address to select those tiers...this has also helped me know how many guest list tickets i should reserve for those of you in the guest-list tiers).

but now that i have some other things cooking that may be location-specific, i need to know where the rest of you are. so i've enabled shipping addresses on ALL REWARD TIERS, which means if anyone new signs up, they can share their snail-mail address with me. and for those of you already in the $1, $3, $5 or $10 reward tiers you should just bop over and update your pledge (just update yer info! you don't need to change the amount or anything)....

patreon's creator dashboard updates in real time with this, so if you move house or otherwise change your shipping address, you can always update your profile to make sure it's up-to-date. then i will KNOW WHERE YOU ARE.

so please, go edit your pledge - again: you don’t have to change the amount, but when you go to update your pledge information there will be a section for you to share your shipping address!

f you want me to come to your city and drink with you in a bunker....DO IT!

here's how with pictures...head to your "edit pledges" page while logged in. here's the direct link:

https://www.patreon.com/pledges

under your pledge to "Amanda Palmer", click the link that says "edit pledge"

then, go ahead and add in your "shipping address", it looks like this:

....then click the button to save your pledge. DONE. you'll receive the confirmation screen and an email letting you know it saved.

THEN WE CAN PARTY LIKE ANDREW WK.

OR PARTY LIKE IT'S 1999.

OR PARTY LIKE THE COMMUNIST PARTY!

OR PARTY LIKE NICK CAVE'S ORIGINAL BAND, THE BIRTHDAY PARTY. THAT MAY BE MY FAVORITE PARTY.

that's it my darlings.

i love you all.

xxx

Thank you so much for the best goth dance party ever last night, it was probably the biggest highlight since moving upstate. Somedays we wonder if moving here was the right thing to do :) keep on doing it, and thank you, thank you thank you!

Hi from Prague - I guess this might be the place with 20 (max.) Patreons. But it’s not far from Berlin or Vienna - if there is a Patreon party there, count me in!

Deniz Bevan

Is anyone else here from Geneva, Switzerland? I could travel to the UK or even Istanbul, Turkey, but I expect to have a newborn (plus the 4 year old) in 2019, so my partying will sadly be limited...

I'm originally from Alabama, but I escaped over the wall in a balloon during the Carter Administration. Now I divide my time between Atlanta and my secret underwater headquarters somewhere off the coast of Iowa.

Also, question re: the Goth Formula. I wear all black anyway, but would any hat suffice? If I added my vintage WWII pith helmet, does that count?

Hello from very near Liverpool, UK - I think that with travel links as they are Manchester, Birmingham, London (or even, ahem, Liverpool) work. :) (Sebastian)

I just wanted to say that I'm going to go update my address as requested. However I know you'll never come to Lafayette, LA because it's obviously small but I could definitely make New Orleans stuff. It's a shame there isn't a way to set some sort of city preference for people in situations like mine so that we can be included in the Patreon count of our nearest metropolitan area.

I worry I might be the only Salt Laker on the patreon, but I have to try. At any rate, we'll always have Portland. <3

Great point! I live in Kansas City area but could afford to travel to St. Louis......

I live in Chattanooga, but Nashville works just as well! Er, close enough. I’ll go update.

Ireland FTW! Sorry to miss you in Dublin.

I live in Berlin, but would also travel to Prague for a Patron Party :-)

Shipping details duly updated, nearest town is Brighton, come back to the seaside soon, eh?

I’ve now added my address details. Closest suitable location would be Norwich. There were a few of us there when you played at Open so I’m sure a patron only gathering in Norwich would be worth your while xx
