(public post)

hello loves.

just a short one because i am pretty much brain dead.

i have a song for you. not yet it's getting born literally as we speak

(it's sleeping, in somerville)

i woke up yesterday and i read your almost 600 comments

i fell into a pit of delicious but painful reality of life

and politics

and weather

and dismal what do we do

and overload

it took me 5 hours to read all the comments

i wrote the song last night

i finished it this morning

it's so so so so interesting writing music fast. you don't get a chance to judge yet

it's all just happening.

i went straight to the studio

i spent 8 hours there

we didn't finish

i go back tomorrow

on my way home to reward myself for working so hard i went and saw a goth band at the middle east play for an hour called Drab Majesty. if you want a nice dark wave bath of beauty, go listen to them

i am too tired to link. use google we are modern

this is me practicing/playing bass naked in my apartment last night but mostly just excited to take a picture of myself holding a bass

then i tried to play in the studio

learning curve

i'm really not great at the bass guys

but it's such a great songwriting tool

i never woulda wrote a song like this on piano

so then sean slade, who was/is in the studio with me (and is amazing, as usual) wound up playing the bass for the entirety of the parts of the song that has bass because believe me you don't actually want to hear the sound of someone learning to play bass on a song that has bass, not this song anyway

also jherek bischoff instagrammed me and asked if he was out of a job it was very funny

mostly i played piano

and organ

here's my underwear

and here's me and sean and our engineer james

this song is

so so

different from the last one

i can't believe i have a patreon and i get to do this

i looked at the wall of books in the studio today while we were on a break

and i thought to myself

i am getting paid to make music

it doesn't get old

ever

that's all

goodnight

zzzzzzzzz

afp

p.s. I AM GOING TO HIT YOU ALL UP TOMORROW WITH HELP FOR A VIDEO IF YOU ARE ANYWHERE NEAR NYC OR UPSTATE. watch for it

fuck i am tired

my dad was born in somerville ma ... i attended many shows in the early 90s at the middle east cafe in cambridge ma ... i was born in salem ma and grew up in peabody (peebuddy) ma.... i'm sure there are many-a-bass located in somerville-salem-cambridge ma ... amd i'm far more sorry that in can possibly express that i only went to ny once (ONCE!) in the early 90s to see music.
