A word about The Chair. (Patreon)

Ok my loves
I so rarely post memes to the patreon…but this one hit so close to home and I felt so fucking seen.
I posted this to FB and IG yesterday. And I have learned so much about my social media followers and where they put their clothes. Apparently all exercise bikes in bedrooms eventually become The Chair. I have also now been turned onto the term “Floordrobe”.
As a touring artist, and constant traveler, I have ingrained lifelong habits of not washing things until they smell or appear spoiled to the human eye. My bandmate Brian used to disagree with me about the thresholds. I was the rankest person on the tour bus. BUT I LIKE THIS SHIRT, I would argue, AND LAUNDRY IS A LUXURY OF THE NON-TOURING.
Not really. I was just lazier than my tour mates, who took the time at the venue or hotel or whatever to…do laundry.
But still.
I gotta remind you all not to wash all your clothes all the fucking time.
I couldn’t find the link to the article I once read about clothes-over washing, but someone helpful on FB dug one up…I tho j there was a great and VERY AFFIRMING article in The NY Times recently as well (from a fashion/textiles expert) who confirmed that we WASH OUR CLOTHES TOO DAMN OFTEN AND WE RUIN THEM. So take heart, good people. Wear your jeans until they are ACTUALLY DIRTY. You don’t wash your coat every day, right? Socks. Undies. Wash those. Jeans? When dirty.
And you?
WHERE DO THE INBETWEEN CLOTHES LIVE??
What is your The Chair?
And
Maybe this needs to be officialized?
Like; we create an actual term and official piece of furniture for these Not Quite Squeaky Clean but Clearly Wearable clothes?
I’m just gonna call whereever they live The Chair, and the clothes themselves: In Cycle clothes. They’re In Cycle once they’re out of the drawer or the suitcase. They’re Out Cycle once they’re in the hamper or the wash, or the laundry bag that lives in the corner floor pile, hotel or the suitcase.
And when it’s freezing cold out, they’re Eye Cycle.
Badoom Ching.
I’ve done over 15 loads of laundry in the last 7 days. It’s heart-helping. I did a ton of old dish towels today, plus there was a huge chocolate milk catastrophe in the kitchen. Ash has finally started folding all his own clothes. It’s a win.
Goodnight my loves.
If you want come keep me company in the comments, please, I’m up for a second. (10:33pm EST).
