March 26, 2018 - (Few hours after #113, 40 weeks into Susan's pregnancy)

Nathan was emptying out the dishwasher. It still felt strange to him that he no longer had the old apartment to worry about. This time they had a lot more space to put the cooking equipment where it needed to go. No more stuffing plastic containers into one cabinet, gambling whether or not it would all fall out when opened.

While busily working through the motions, Nathan could not help but cast occasional glances towards the adjacent open living room where Susan rested comfortably on the couch. She laid on her side and given how massive her belly was, it was unclear to him whether she dozed off or was actually watching television. Their morning visit to Dr. Reese for the checkup had left them both fatigued, albeit, upon arriving home, their spirits gradually lightened up once they had returned. Much to his relief were they able to experience the pregnancy just a bit longer.

The sight of Susan blossoming before his very eyes, growing bigger each passing day, brought immense joy to Nathan's heart, far exceeding anything he may have imagined prior. They often snuggle together, each week they’d have to shift around bit by bit to account for her growing shape. Indulging in moments of tenderness that only the two of them shared. Aware that this period of motherhood would end soon, he seized every opportunity to revel within it. She even let him document her growth week by week, even though she usually disliked being the subject of photographs.

As much as both Nathan and Susan enjoyed the pregnancy for what it was, a massive task awaited both of them. He held himself strong for Susan, but he had been just as nervous to become a parent to seven children at once. The first and second trimester were the hardest on him, as he had to try his best to stay positive and find a house. But now that it was all over, apart from a few rooms, he felt more than ready to tackle the challenge.

Once he had finished putting away the dishes, he walked over to the coffee table and sat down on the free space. Lucky opened his eyes as he was nestled next to her legs, but continued sleeping. To his side he stacked up the plates of food that Susan had devoured, given she had to eat for 8 people. The sound woke Susan up and she slowly yawned, followed by a smile.

“Slept well?”

Susan chuckled, her arm reaching out to stroke her disproportionally gigantic stomach. “Now that I don’t have to worry about spraying milk everywhere, very much so.”

Nathan leaned over, his hand gracing hers as they rub the belly in circles. They share a quiet moment between them, with only the soft noises of the television behind.

“Need anything?” He eventually asked. “Vitamins, food, more water?”

“All good, thank you.” She brought her hand to interlock with his, now drifting above her belly. “Say... are... are you excited?”

He raised his eyebrow. “Of course I am, Suu.” Nathan tilted his head to match hers resting on a pillow. “As amazing as all of this has been, I can’t wait to meet all of them and to raise them with you.”

“I’m glad...” Susan sniffed, carrying a smile but her eyes clearly tearing up. “I uhm... I guess I still need one more thing.”

“What’s that?”

“Tissues. C-cause, you know...”

“OH! I’ll get on it right away.”
