Dear Patrons,

I made a humorous video addressing the outraged reactions to the last episode, but I'm wondering if it makes sense to publish it. What do you think?

On one hand, I want to poke fun at the level of discource happening on the playback page. On the other, I don't feel 100% in the right to retalliate against the core criticism being made by (some of the less rude) viewers.

Whether casual racism plays a role in some examples of the "Mandela effect" is pure speculation, after all. I've seen it mentioned in other critiques so I included a hint of it in mine, in the form of a couple of sarcastic lines. But I agree that it was unnecessary and the video would have been fine without it. If there is such a thing as "race baiting", I suppose this would be an example of it.

That said, so many people took the bait SO VIGUROUSLY that I can't help but laugh shake my head.

So this "apology" video is a bit of fun trolling aimed at the overly-sensitive, self-centered folks who chose to be rude and aggressive with their.

But of course posting it would bring a whole new wave of who-know-what-kind of comments...

Should I bother?

My Apology

An important message about the last episode.

This is the type of stuff second channels are for.

Anonymous

Love it, but I don't know if this fits with your channel since it's out of character (to my knowledge, I don't think you've done a video out of character on that channel). Like the person said before, this would be awesome on a secondary channel!

Anonymous

It's a balance of riding the drama-wave v. acknowledging opinions/statements that do not deserve it. If increasing subscriber/patreon count is what's most important to you, go with the former. If not, go with the latter. ps. discourse > discource pps. Keep up the awesome work!

Anonymous

Humor heals... But yes, perhaps best on a second channel?

Anonymous

I wasn't aware of any bad reaction to the video, or any reaction really because I watch most videos on my TV and don't ever look at comments. I only ever hear about stuff happening there when it boils over enough to get news coverage. I say that because since it's your channel you're probably neck deep in the drama and think it's a bigger deal than it really is. I think you don't have to spend any time dealing directly with youtube commenters. The only people who ought to are daily vloggers and people whose community interaction is part of the appeal. Consider RLM, who have awful nonsense in the comments of everything they do, but they don't respond to it so it doesn't affect the content.

Anonymous

I think the sarcasm would be lost on the gaggle of YT commenters who this is aimed at. The rest of us tho'...

Stephen Staver

OMG people really got upset over it?

Stephen Staver

First off, I love the video, but... I don't think it would be a good idea to post it.

Stephen Staver

Best bet would be to ignore the people screaming, and just let them yell into the void.

Stephen Staver

But seriously, your video is funny. (although maybe a bit too much), and I love all of your videos.

Gondamar

I changed my mind. Put it on the main channel. Fuck the haters.

Stephen Staver

Maybe I could have done a better job of writing all of that as one comment instead of 4 separate comments.

Timmo Warner

I am so torn over whether it's a good idea to post this or not. You'll just make the people who were mad madder. Then again, I laughed so loud at the final line I really want to see it go up just to read the comments!

Anonymous

I was thinking something similar, some people would definitely not get the sarcasm, which I think is really well done (incredible acting skills). I also agree with some other posters in that this is more of a second channel kind of post, though that may not be seen by the intended audience...

Anonymous

wouldn't post it

Anonymous

Ehhh...I didn't have the slightest inkling that such a trivial thing could even remotely be offensive. Personally, I'd say ignore the trolls and just keep on making great stuff.

Carl Fink

I have to say, I like the subtle tour-de-force. You explicitly don't use any visual effects ... except the ones you quote from the previous video. However, you take the opportunity to showcase your other talents here. That's some of your best acting, and I'm just sophisticated enough to admire the skill involved in the understated lighting and makeup that you used here, not to mention scripting. Bravo.

Anonymous

Capt D, it took me a minute to realize the race issue came from the actual name of the filter you were describing. Once I realized, I found that hilarious. Maybe make it a little more clear for the slowest of us and please post this on the main channel so I can link my friend who isn't a patreon supporter.

Anonymous

Let's just keep this one between us eh?

Anonymous

Post it. The people who gleaned racism out of the previous video are just looking for reasons to be outraged. They're already lost. This was hilarious.

Anonymous

I had no idea there was any backlash! I watched it almost as soon as it was posted here and I enjoyed you taking on the latest "craze" (Mandela Effect). I've been a fan for a couple years and there has never been anything from you that has ever felt like it crossed a line or seemed mean spirited. I guess now the new controversy is wether or not to post Alan videos on here or not! Haha No need for a second channel in my opinion. It's part of the disillusion....

Anonymous

I'm sincerely glad you added a few jokes about the implicit racism of shit like the Mandela effect. I hate the line that if you're being scientific/intellectual you should only address explicit elements of that which you critique. Basically: Just pretend you live in a vacuum! :) That being said, this is a real brain teaser for me because I truly live by the standard of trying to never engage with trolls, but I also live by the (somewhat douchey) standard of 'content is king', and if you have it, share it! I see so many good and talented artists who let so much work (and even opportunities) fade away because they are worried about being perfect. That (*that) being said, It's a funny and well written video. John Rael

Anonymous

I wouldn't. Why bother? You know the kind of people that take the time to post comments like that will never change their mind or understand where you're coming from or accept this kind of humor on this subject. Shoot, you might even get unfairly lumped in with a certain other YTer that's in a little racey hot water right now.

Anonymous

Post it!

Anonymous

Loved it! It took me a minute to get the joke, but it's hilarious. Well done. Post it, lol. Second channels are okay, but unnecessary imho.

Anonymous

My recommendation is to not post it. You'll just keep the troll-fest going.

Anonymous

even though I thought it was really funny, I don't think you should really bother posting it. it's a break in character really strong that I dont remember you ever doing, even in your live presentation you went so far just so you wouldn't break character. and most people wont really get the joke cuz a lot of people normally don't really read comments.

Anonymous

oh man what a great thumbnail choice

Timmo Warner

Maybe hide a link to it in an annotation on the original video?

Anonymous

This is hilarious, <3 CD

Anonymous

While I appreciate the humor in this video and what you are going for, I do not think this would be taken well on Youtube with the general audience. I think it'd be best to let those opinions disappear. I especially feel that some good will would be lost by (what will be interpreted as) flaunting subscriber and patreon numbers. Addressing these people would be giving into Youtube drama, in my opinion. One thing I love about your channel is how you incorporate meta discussion about content creation into your videos, and you've done an awesome job at picking your battles. I just think this is one to let go and reflect on the feedback that has the good of you and your channel in mind. Edit: just to be clear, I think that the youtube comments are completely ridiculous and the issue is blown way out of proportion. Trust your gut on this one, we have your back, Captain!!

Anonymous

People that rages so stupidly at one of your vídeos for one or two lines that maaaaaaaybe COULD be taken as offensive ( if you are hipersensitive at a bleeding-butthurt level) clearly doesnt know you or understand your type of comedy. I think you should upload this vídeo, could serve the purpose of a cleaner of some sort, purging your channel of the fake "dissillusioners". Also, like someone here already said: fuck the haters. Aaaalso, i love Lauren , she is talented and she is HOT.

Anonymous

nah i wouldn't bother. it's a small section of your audience to be sure but it hardly seems worth poking that beehive for the sake of those few lines taken too seriously. if this video scratched an itch to reply to these people i think just having made it would be enough. like writing an angry email but not sending it.

Anonymous

This is great, post it! Not a lot of people will change their views over a youtube video, but you can help create more reason based content for people to see.

Anonymous

I don't see posting this video doing anything positive for the discourse on that video. Frankly, this is one of those times I feel you just need to ignore the people bitching. All this would do is draw out the noise being made over a single satirical remark.

Anonymous

Good question. I'd say post it as a link at the end of your next video - for those interested in a follow up to the 'controversy'. It's very funny and most will enjoy, but some of your general audience may be disappointed when they see a new CD video and it's not the usual fare. Surely it will have a bad reaction among some of your viewers, but are these the people you want to have any influence in your decision making? At least DM it to them.

Anonymous

You... beautiful... bastard. You had me going for about a minute in this vid. As such, I am upping my Patreon subscription from $5 to $8 per month.

Anonymous

I love you CD

Anonymous

I don't know if it's right for the Capitan Disillusion channel but I would love to see more videos like this.

Anonymous

Welcome to the Internet, Cap :) I love the video, and I'm glad you posted it here. It may not be best for your main channel. But maybe you could add an even more expensive Patreon tier that has frequent videos like this? :)

Anonymous

Since I don't read comments, this took me by surprise. People are idiots, which is ironic since the Mandela Effect video was about idiotic people. Pretty funny response though... didn't realize you were such a good actor. Maybe next year your name will be on the wrong envelope.

Anonymous

Being an ignorant white person myself I have no idea of what you're talking about, seriously. As such I feel I don't have standing to recommend a course of action. I can say that when I've screwed up like that in the past an offended - no, it isn't really offense as much as hurt - a black man with an insensitive remark, I tried to apologize. That didn't work too well because I tried in a small way to explain (read "justify") my stupid action. In retrospect I should have just given a simple apology, and let it go.

Anonymous

I'm a white dude. I didn't notice anything remotely racist about the video until this post. Though I do suppose "dear white people" is in the modern zeitgeist, which isn't the best. Edit: re: your response -- Agree with Benji below. Seems like it would take away from the main CD mission, and just start an internet argument -- probably not worthwhile to post publicly. Though I personally enjoy your response :-)

Anonymous

I personally like this video, and I think the sarcasm is totally on point. But my vote is no because I think it validates the commenters more than anything. Those people commenting are an extreme minority in comparison to the people who loved the video and made no comment one way or the other. And I don't think they are worth responding to. Even if you thought that brief comment in your video was an absent-minded mistake, it's still not worth addressing. Just keep doing your thing, Cap.

Anonymous

I love how people are saying in the comments "why do you have to bring race in to this?" which is clearly what meany people did themselves. Manufactured outrage. I am white (not that matters) and it didn't cross my mind at all that anything was intended to have a racial overtone. I think the problem is: all it takes is one person to mention it and then others jump on the hate bandwagon. It is such a ridiculous thing to get enraged over, I would not post this on your main channel. Like others said I would let it just die. Easy for me to say since I am not directly effected by your sub numbers, but I don't think the people that left will come back regardless that you do. Modern society likes to get outraged for no reason.

Anonymous

While the satire is on point, I think I'd have to agree with a number of the others that it may not be best to post it. In my opinion, I think it would be seen as something coming from too far out of left field and let's face it, I don't think most people would get the joke. Still a clever video, so maybe hide it as an unlisted Easter Egg in a future video that makes a nod to the Mandela Effect video. The main video being the Lucy, the response being the football, and the sudden realization of sarcasm being the moment where the football is yanked away as the angry viewer tries to run up and kick it.

Anonymous

I love that you posted one more comment to apologize.

Anonymous

It's just a question of how much you value the viewers who had racist reactions. If your intention is to say that you are unapologetic and proud of the work you did and do not care whether their ideology allows them to support it, then go for it. But it will certainly cause those in the crosshairs to get even angrier and more defensive. I understand the desire to dig your heels in and push back, but is it worth the extra drama that it will bring?

Jim Battle

Really well done! It was unsurprising (at this point) that so many people got upset at it. I can only imagine that many of the people who WILL NOT LET THIS GRAVE INJUSTICE AGAINST WHITE PEOPLE STAND are probably very likely do dismiss those petty BLM grievances like, oh, unarmed men getting shot by police, endemic judicial bias, and other trifles like that. That said, it does feel like you are poking your finger in their eyes, and pointing to the increase in viewership is really arguing that you are right because your viewership went up. If you really want to address this social issue, do it in a way that educates people instead of just trying to offend those who took offense.

Anonymous

I'm torn on this. On one hand making fun of these people is usually a good choice but on the other hand it's an out of character acknowledgement of their garbage. Myself and many other viewers were blissfully ignorant that people actually got mad over this, and I think that's the best way to leave it. In the end the kind of people who get upset at this kind of thing just aren't worth responding to. Also I would say even not on a second channel. All this kind of stuff does is act like a lightning rod for those types of people. Pointless to attract more of them.

Anonymous

This reminds me of emails I've typed up to respond to some inanity or other only to ultimately delete and not send. It feels good to express, but doesn't further the conversation. I appreciate giving us supporters a preview, but as humorous as it is, I wouldn't post it. Your original work stands on its own, as is.

Anonymous

“Never explain yourself. Your friends don’t need it and your enemies won’t believe it.” ― Ziad K. Abdelnour, Economic Warfare: Secrets of Wealth Creation in the Age of Welfare Politics No idea who he is either. Point is it would only reinforce whatever side people are on rather than be a funny bit for the show. Wouldn't post it as a video on youtube but for your fans on Patreon that was awesome!

Anonymous

Too many won't get the irony. Of those who won't get it, many will take your side and defend you and on doing so, will look the fool. Your goal, if I may postulate, is more to advance critical thinking and less to poke fun. Whilst the latter is welcomed in your work, it is never the focus of your work.

Anonymous

This is hilarious. I am so happy you made this. Whether or not you post it is up to you, but I think it's absolutely fantastic! I cannot believe those people writing those comments. I thought the transition was a lovely change of pace.

Anonymous

Honestly made me laugh out loud, like literally. I actually thought you were gonna talk about it, and then you turned it around and had a lot of fun with it. I definitely vote for publishing.

Anonymous

On second thought, PLEASE post this publicly!

Anonymous

Also, I'd like to state, just for the record, that "reverse racism" doesn't exist. The Daily Dot did a great and simple breakdown, if anyone doesn't understand why.

Anonymous

Like others, I'm torn - this video is FREAKING HILARIOUS. Thanks for sharing it with us. But on the other hand I agree it would seem out of place on your channel (since you're out of character, etc) and the very people it's aimed at will likely not appreciate the humor.

Anonymous

yeah it's just called racism. though more times than not that people claim "reverse-racism" are also just full of shit.

Anonymous

Post it

Timmo Warner

Despite my previous comments, after digesting the video and reading other people's thoughts, even though this is hilarious and well made, it just doesn't jibe with the main channel and will always be a bit out of place. I think CD's channel should remain what it is. BUT, please make a personal channel for stuff like this! It would be awesome.

Anonymous

Some battles can't be won. Your friends and supporters know who you really are, and that's what imortant.

Anonymous

Hilarious video, but those turd monkeys don't deserve the attention. I say leave this video for us patrons to have a laugh together, but don't bother putting it on your YT channel.

Anonymous

This is fantastic but it will probably go over the angry people's heads. It should probably be kept private. Also, damn, this comment section is a lot more sensible than I thought it would be. For some reason part of me thought that many people would blindly tell you that you should do what you want to do, but instead I see long and detailed reasonings why it should be kept private. I guess I shouldn't expect less from *most* viewers of your show. Keep up the good work.

casey

post it. no question about it. post it.

Anonymous

Do you mean I need to take an online video transition/editing course to become outraged? I swear keeping up with all the ways a person can become offended makes me tired.

Dan Kuehling

I lean to "keep it on Patreon", for a couple of reasons: 1.) Personally, I like that the public YT channel stays very in-character. 2.) Towards the end of the video, you're trying hard to keep a straight face and not quite completely succeeding. 3.) The commenters you're talking about either won't get the joke, or will just get louder and less intelligent.

Anonymous

Don't feed the trolls please.

Anonymous

The video is clever and funny, but not sure it's beneficial to post it. Maybe having made it and shared it with your supporters is enough to feel good.

Anonymous

Sarcasm and Satire: It's not fore everyone. Especially commentators on YouTube. Stay true to your channel and don't post this on CaptainDisillusion. Maybe time for an alter-ego? CaptainTrollHunter?

Anonymous

You suck like all white people? Dude, own your half silver heritage! You are a half-silver half-not silver American. Or have you been lying ALL THIS TIME! In other news, I don't have an opinion on whether you should release this video...

Anonymous

Go with your gut, Cap'n. You know this isn't worth posting. It changes the dynamic of the channel, and it gives power to the trolls and idiots by paying them attention.

Anonymous

We need more white people calling each other out. We need it to show white people that racism isn't acceptable or normal, and we need to shoulder some of that burden that PoC are faced with every day. Some of it fights the racism, but some of it just tells PoC that they're safe and can relax. It's because of this that I was delighted by your comments in your original video, and disappointed at all the negative reviews. This video cracked me up, did a great job taking a stand, and I think makes for a great example on how to respond to negative comments that I'd love to be able to share to a wider audience. Too often, racism persists because of the instinct to avoid making waves, but your whole thing is about making waves. I say do it. Or at the very least, incorporate it into your next video and more videos after that, too. P.S. upping my pledge.

Jarren Butterworth

Racism and weird jewish plots usually lie just below the surface of so so many conspiracy theories if you just scratch the surface a little. It's sort of like 3 degrees of bacon where you can connect any sort of conspiracy theory or pseudoscience to "the jews did this!" I think it's good to mention this, to associate a lot of this sort of thinking with racism and anti-antisemitism and anti-reptoidism because you really don't have to go too far down the rabbit hole to always run into it. Your comments were absolutely on the mark and little more than a subtle jab.

Anonymous

" We need it to show white people that racism isn't acceptable" huh, that sounds kinda racist

Anonymous

Well this is not cool. This is actually an issue?! Why you? Why this video? Some wannabe social justice warrior(s) pick this as their battle?! Ahem they need to refocus on the larger issues such as the racism in their president. And I'm sorry to get political I'll make it short but they won't even have the freedom to make these comments at this rate should net neutrality be done away with. This is what they need to worry about. Usually when I'm posting I use a lot of ellipsis...like this...its a rest for the eyes. Or as if I was actually speaking...a pause between speaking. It's a habit. hang on I have a point to make. The deal is that whether my grammar or use of three dots is punishable in English class...it does not mean that the reader did not understand the message I was trying to convey. With that said. Its a fucking transition. Just watch the video and be entertained and understand the message the Captain is delivering. You want a civil rights fight?! Go outside and get fucking involved. Stop drowning out a comment section with bullshit to make yourself look like some sort of righteous warrior. Captain, keep up the awesome work. The loudest most rude hating negative people will always be the minority in the internet. Most of your audience loves your content and just because they don't comment doesn't mean they aren't there. (edit) to actually answer your question and i apologize for the rant. Knowing what I know about people and how the ones who hide behind anonymity on the internet like to argue stupid shit. I will almost guarantee it will create only more drama for you. Maybe put it on some second channel or blog or something but not on your main channel. Even though your message was good and had the best intentions and sincere. People are dumb. And some just want to stir up problems because their boring lives need it. Don't feed them.

Anonymous

Rule #1: Do not feed the Trolls.

Anonymous

I was not happy about it either. But if you learn from it.. You will get better(at some point, just don't get your hope up!!)

Anonymous

Haha, your acting has improved so much since the beginning XD It's a good video this one, but not your best work if I'm honest. I think it's better to let the issue slide. Maybe "The Mandaela Effect" could've done without the race thing, but what's done is done. If they didn't get sarcasm, then that's their problem. Author intention can sometimes be a hard thing to grasp or for some be elusive altogether (you wouldn't believe how many people misunderstand Johnathan Pie and think he is making a mockery of the left and is actually very right-winged). My advice would be to not upload the video and just ignore it alltogether. Next month everyone wiuld've forgotten all about this.

Anonymous

Dear Captain. Do not publish it, please. Do not wrestle with pigs. You both get dirty and the pig likes it. This ‘argument’ is not something that you can win. And taking into account entire ridiculous turmoil with resent PewDiePie your entire career can be at serious risk. Some people just don’t get jokes. Some people are unable to understand sarcasm or satire at all. There is no logic in it and they can find race issues and offensive subjects everywhere. Recently I saw serious discussion about removing terms ‘whitelist’ and ‘blacklist’ from source code as this is racists…. Just leave it. Let it go. Keep doing your great stuff and do your best to stay away from feeding all those delusional creatures….. Have a good one!

Anonymous

Regardless of whether or not you post it, it was hilarious, Captain D!

Hahahaaha - oscar worthy!

Hoder Erroneus Jensen

Brilliant. I would let it stay on Patreon only, no need to feed or give the trolls attention, Upped my pledge to,, was about time anyways. You are one of the most overlooked Youtube creators. Keep up the good work, as always your content is awesome! :)

Oh this is next level satire! I can't believe how awesome you are Captain.

Keep the video private. Add it as an annotation to the original. Problem solved. It doesn't fit the narrative of your public videos. But it's fun and clever, a good way to address the issue.

Keep it for the paying customers. The hecklers in the peanut gallery should pay to get this.

I would keep the video private. It's funny in context, but would lose its punch after time.

I like the video, but I would not post in on the regular channel. It will only distract from your main work. Plus I second the "don't feed the trolls" sentiment.

Anonymous

post it. people that can only watch you as a cartoon character have cartoon issues caused by tv head. they're literally asking you to not ruin their disillusionment. paradoxes suck!

Anonymous

This is awesome, but I'd keep it private here. You're just going to get more hate from those same people and it's not worth it. We all appreciate'd it though, keep up the great work!

Anonymous

People like Tim have already expressed my feelings. I thought the original joke was hilarious as well.

Anonymous

I loved it, but I wouldn't post it to YouTube. It wouldn't be taken with the humor it deserves by the irritable community.

Cesar The Salad

I agree with people saying you should keep the video private.

Anonymous

Definitely worth posting. Why worry about further irritating the sort of people who created those silly comments to begin with? This is exactly the sort of humour your channel is full of: it's just that this time the people it touched a nerve with were watching in larger numbers than usual...

Anonymous

In the past you've made fun of people who were clearly objectively wrong after presenting the evidence of why they're wrong. Here you risk making fun of people with a different opinion for a personal kick. I don't think you should let politics distract you from your mission of disillusion.

Thanny

You were wrong to imply that the supposed Mandel Effect has anything whatsoever to do with racism. People still take the label "racist" seriously, but this kind of sloppy application of the term will change that. Moreover, this class of race-baiting (which can be housed under the umbrella of the toxic ideology of identity politics) has consequences, most notably that of alienating people who are not bigots in any way, yet are attacked as if they are. That changes the results of elections, which is how we got the Buffoon in Chief. Yes, identity politics put Trump in the White House. That is not an exaggeration. So anything you do to perpetuate that nonsense (and the spurious racism claims on the Mandela Effect video are an example) will only increase the odds of eight damaging years instead of only four. Keep this video private. Don't make the mistake of assuming that the strongest and most vitriolic reactions are the norm. Most sensible people will not comment at all, and just lower their opinion of you for trivializing racism, which, for all its humor, is what this video continues to do.

Anonymous

I don't read YouTube comments. So I didn't realize there were people upset about it. I think this video is hilarious. However, posting this is risky. I would suggest moving forward and ignoring those comments.

Anonymous

I would suggest you just move on. I don't think it was at all unreasonable that there is a kind of cultural/racial callousness involved in taking someone like Mandela and treating his very existence as some kind of trivial question or matter of opinion. I also think people are aggressively unwilling to admit that these things can have subtle effects on our thinking. All that said, I think the ethos you've cultivated is maybe not the right one to raise these really deep and complicated issues, especially where the connections are abstract and unproven. You may have had more luck if you had framed it as a cultural insensitivity, but I would just stay away from racial issues unless the picture is clearer than it is here. People are quick to get triggered and hear something that wasn't actually said. Unless you're going to give it a very careful treatment, you're probably just going to get people to freak out rather than promoting the kind of rational thought and understanding that I know is your goal.

CaptainDisillusion

Wow, this is certainly the most feedback I've had about anything on here. Thank you all for your input. Sounds like the majority errs on the side of keeping the video off the YouTube subscribers' feed. I tend to agree. Let this just be one of those fabled bonus videos that exist somewhere, somehow, for people who happen to know. COMMENCING WORK ON NEXT EPISODE.

Anonymous

I liked the original joke in the first video - and this is a great follow up, but I think you're right to keep it here rather than stir the pot more! (Some people are so touchy/fragile!)

Anonymous

Of course, post it. Not because it will reduce negative comments, but you've spent the time to create this video, which is on it's own fun, also establishes your position even more for new viewers.

Anonymous

Post it! Though I think it MAY be too subtle for those viewers who wrote those comments. :)

Anonymous

Keep up the great work, D! All these petty trolls should just be ignored.

Anonymous

Meta is murder! Although I enjoy the meta bend your latest videos are taking, and I'm all for trolling the trolls, I'd prefer for the channel no to go full meta. Keep up the good work captain!

Anonymous

I'm a bit late to the party - but this is funny! But yeah leave it for the backers I guess. No need to stir the pot - and one of my favourite things about this channel is the steps taken to keep up the Captain Disillusion facade - it always makes me feel a bit like I'm watching an 80's / 90's kids science show, like Beakman. And the way you kept the facade in the stage talk just floored me, that was awesome :) There are real bigotry problems in society, but a new problem is "outrage culture" which is making people err on the side of caution for fear of offending people where they needn't have worried, and it works to drive people apart, not relax and bring them together - like the way you and your best friends jokingly insult each other, to show you have that rapport.

Anonymous

I don't think sarcasm is the right way to solve misunderstanding issues. You could just give an honest and serious answer, like the one in the description of the video. But the best is probably not to answer at all, accept some of the critiques, ignore the rude ones and keep on making good videos, possibly on a different subject :)

Anonymous

I loved the video and I think this apology will be accepted by the critics of the last video. But then bringing up the whole race thing at the end? OMG! REALLY? *scnr*

Anonymous

Just marry her already. Real life marriage I mean! ;P

I’m a little late to this Patreon party. But! Thank you so much for supplying me with a much-needed good laugh tonight. Rock, rock on with your legendary awesomeness!

Anonymous

I'm super late, but I think you made the right decision not to publish it :)

Anonymous

I just assumed it was a 'meta' reaction to the Pewdiepie situation. If I recall, you criticized him for making a race joke that would only hit well with fans who were familiar with his sarcastic sense of humor. In the Mandela effect video, you seem to have done something similar (tho much smaller in scale) but managed to induce the reaction from the OTHER side. If intentional, it was ingenious.
