Guys, I have been working on a super-sized episode this month - 13 minutes (whoaaaa). It's sort of an investigative report about an electronic gadget. I wanted to try my hand at going a little more in-depth than I usually do but still keeping it funny and engaging. Hope it works.

After a day of filming, 2 days of pickups and over a week of full-time editing/compositing (THANKS FOR ENABLING THAT, BTW), I finally completed all the visuals late last night. Today I'm color-grading and starting on sound.

My main motivation for getting this finished as fast as possible (besides you all, and the established deadline) is that the second week of October, I'm flying to Manchester, UK for the QED Conference. where I'm expected to give a ~50 minute talk!

Uh...

I SHOULD PROBABLY START PREPARING FOR THIS TALK.

PS: There are a couple tutorials "in the can" (recorded). As soon as I'm able to edit them, they'll be up in the tutorials feed!

Can't wait! Although, wasn't your goal to make a more "simple" video ;-)? I seem to remember you saying you wanted to do something nice and simple after the Beakman episode and then making the most work-intensive episode yet. At 13 minutes it sounds to me like this isn't that "simple" video you said you wanted to make ;-).

"I wanted to try my hand at going a little more in-depth than I usually do but still keeping it funny and engaging. Hope it works." I for one am excited to hear you're trying some new things / pushing your boundaries. Given your history, I think you'll be more than capable of both getting in depth and keeping entertaining throughout. Also, whoa! The QED Conference sounds amazing! If possible, be it written or short vlog clips, I'd love to have some detailed feedback from you on how you found both the trip and overall experience to be.

Alan Melikdan... Melekdji... Malucjy, Captain Disillusion (if that is your real name) is coming to visit?! Now that is a nice surprise. If only I could make it; bit short on cash at the moment though sadly. Still, hope you enjoy your time over here Alan and I'm sure you'll do another con video like the Vegas one. Also interested in what you have up your sleeve for the next video, looking forward to that too. :)

I can't wait for the video (but will). Good luck on the TED talk... no, QED talk. :-)

Can you please elaborate on your need for color-grading? Aren't you shooting all of the video in your own studio with the same lights and camera? Seems like all you might need to do is white balance and/or level adjustment? Sorry, not trying to tell you what you should be doing, I am sincerely curious.
