Ever amaze yourself with how disorganized you can be?

I wanted to contribute a short video to the Northeast Conference on Science & Skepticism (organized by the same folks who make the Skeptics' Guide to the Universe podcast) and it seemed so far away. Cut to... THE FIRST DAY OF IT.

I scrambled for a silly idea I could execute in [almost] 1 take and came up with this.

Luckily they were able to use it on day 2 while a tech glitch with one of the speakers needed to be worked out. A perfect implementation!

The NECSS was a virtual con and although it's just finished, if you're interested, I believe you can still buy access to a replay of the entire thing for a while - https://www.crowdcast.io/e/necss2021

I came. I saw. I loved with my heart and used my head for everything else.

At first I was thinking "this is poor quality" but then soon realised this is Captain Disillusion and he's totally going to go somewhere with this. Wasn't disappointed

Wow. Amazing.

Very impressive to pull off a video like this on such short notice in one continuous take with no major stumbles. Great job!!

Ah! Using it during technical difficulties. That's great

That was weird. For me, around 3:02 the audio track of a different CD video (with the intro musical stinger) started playing at twice the volume of the Vimeo clip. Jarring. The actual video was great.

I'm imagining that the very next presentation had all the problems of the captain's "before" version.

Improvisation is the Holy Grail of performance. Prost Malzeit!

Clever, well done.

I'm always amazed at how clearly and enjoyably you can convey ideas. This is so good!

That is the exact headset I use during my classes and I feel so attacked rn xD Jokes aside, I'd love to be able to share this with some of my colleagues. Would that be permissible?
