Hello, patrons! Like no other video before, this one was ONLY possible through your support. (Mainly because the entire month's pledges, plus a little extra out of pocket went into its creation.)

It was quite challenging to make, but I'm extremely proud of the final product. So please sit back and enjoy these NINE MINUTES of whimsical skepticism!

(The video will publish for the rest of humanity on Friday, Aug 28th.)

Love it when you punch people, do it more often. Great episode. Thx!

Anonymous

Yes, great one !

Okay, so an episode that features new characters, nods to both James Randi and Bill & Ted, and over 9 minutes long? Why I think you've outdone yourself. Oh, and the debunk was good too :)

Anonymous

Excellent! I'd run out and support you on Patreon, but, um, well, I'm here now...

Timmo Warner

This was a great episode! It debunked the video and commented on some things in general! Though I still give kudos to the original video maker because I figure that after 5 or 6 glasses of water all over their table people might have stepped back and figure they've been had and learned something. =o)

Drek the Bat

Well done! That was quite a trick!!

Terrific as usual. I'm glad you mentioned the talent the original video had, looks quite convincing, except that of course water does not work like that. I like this new Holly character has she been on before? Is she Holly from Red Dwarf? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holly_(Red_Dwarf)

CaptainDisillusion

Thank you! Indeed, Holly has appeared before. It was ages ago, at a more innocent time: https://youtu.be/NXCtgI2lkFw Ah, memories. I'll have to check out Red Dwarf.

That was amazing. So, Alan, I don't get it... you take elaborate visual effects of others (brusspup, dandeentremont, etc) and almost offhandedly upstage their work, solely for the purpose of demonstration. With your talent, you'd think you're running Disillusion Light & Magic or something and are raking in millions. Instead, you're on Patreon. What gives?

Anonymous

That was just amazing, er, and I wonder where you got the idea for that million dollar thing.

Anonymous

That was fantastic. Really loved the Bill & Ted at the end.

Anonymous

Extra happy pants! That was hilarious and props to Holly for an excellent role!

I always look forward to you videos, well done.

"This is how I punch people" Hahahahahaha

That was really awesome. I tried for a bit to make a dumb turbulated cylinder in Blender like you did, but I can't find the proper buttons. The closest I got looks like some ridiculous sponge. http://i.imgur.com/MUiuKBg.png So, hats off to you for managing to finagle Blender into doing what you want, for once.

CaptainDisillusion

Hmm, I pretty much did same as you, but added a few loops to the cylinder (including top and bottom) before applying the modifiers. That let me keep the Subdivision Surface at just 2, resulting in larger, smoother bumps. The texture I used was Voronoi. I also added a Simple Deform modifier to give it that whirlpool twist. Blender is bizarre, but once you start getting the hang of it, feels very powerful. I also used it to explode the YouTube player and for the Bill and Ted phone booth at the end. Renders incredibly slow though!

Captain, I love how your videos look like Hollywood productions, but you still keep the lamp and the shuffled paper in shot.

Patreon bucks well spent!

And that got you a new patron! (from France)
