Why I closed the SmutCube GameJolt account (Patreon)

This is going to be a long rambling post, and it's largely irrelevant for most patrons, but if you used to get my games at GameJolt you might want to know why you won't be able to anymore.

The tl;dr is that I closed the GameJolt account due to how I personally felt about GameJolt's user base giving me the impression they were mostly underage. 

As some of you may or may not have noticed, the GameJolt page for SmutCube no longer exists. I personally took it down this week after a long time of consideration. GameJolt was where I initially distributed my games when I opened the Patreon over a year ago since it was one of the few game distribution platforms that accepted adult content and just so happened to also have a large focus on FNAF fan games. 

I didn't close the account due to any fault of GameJolt, GameJolt is still an excellent place for indie game developers to distribute their games and I would recommend their service to anyone starting out. The issue I had with GameJolt was the audience I felt I was attracting on their site. 

Before I disabled the comments on GameJolt I got the strong impression that several of the posters were underage. In one instance a user even admitted to being underage in their profile, which is when I disabled the comments initially.  I can't say for certain whether or not those posters were actually underage but it was a strong impression that I couldn't ignore.  

This problem was compounded by the fact that GameJolt allows users to send "friend requests" to developers and has a generally more "social media" type of design than platforms like Steam.  Even with the comments disabled I would still get friend requests from users on the site and given the prejudices I developed, I started to feel like I was throwing my very adult games to children, obviously this thoroughly creeped me out.

When V0.08 was ready for release I couldn't bring my self to post it to GameJolt given how I felt. Since I won't be posting any more games or updates to GameJolt I felt it was time to close the account for good. 

Fuck Nights at Fredrika's will still be a free game, I'll just be distributing the public releases through adult focused channels. I can't post releases on Patreon publicly as it's against their ToS, but you should be able to tell when a public release is available by the post titles on here, then you can google a place to download the latest release.
