Inspirational Insights - Thierry Mugler (Patreon)

I wanted to post this one since January, when we said farewell to one of the greatest fashion designers of the turn of the centuries - Thierry Mugler.

He was born in France and from his early years he became interested in performative arts and design. This made him also interested in fashion design, but he didn't have that much of a tailoring background. Navertheless, soon he started to get more experience working for boutiques in Paris as a designer. This way step by step his ideas emerged and attracted more and more attention. He became noticed by some big couture companies and won numerous competitions.

Mugler was also top of the tops for me ever since I remember. I've seen his creations almost everywhere in the 90's - the time I grew up. He was all over FashionTV. I also watched a lot of MTV back then and Mugler's creations could be seen in videoclips of the most famous artists like George Michael, Madonna, Michael Jackson, David Bowie, Grace Jones and many many many more. Even contemporary popstars use or refer to his looks very often.

Mugler's works usually presented the vision of a Superwoman and Superheroine. His outfits refer to comics, theatre and fantasy. He also experimented with various materials also incorporating some fetish stuff, but also keeping the whole design very elegant and feminine.

He became a legend long ago. I'd like to say thank you for all the inspiring beauty he gave us.
