A VERY tricky question in which Thomas analyzed it correctly but picked (D) over the correct answer (B).  He's now 156-for-299 (52.2%).

As I understand the contract, its like negotiating mowing the lawn. It's a oral contract. Teacher needed work, student said they would do it for a price. (That creates the contract) At that point either can say... no... and walk away. The teacher making a threat creates servitude or forced work, after the contract was in place. That is how I read it. ------------ Change the "books" to "build me a house" and increase the request for money to $30k.... then have the teacher say, do it for no money or I will turn you in.
