I think D is correct. I don't know much about personal injury settlements, but I do know a few things about the levying of assets, and in most cases and jurisdictions, levies of assets are not enforceable without first having sued the debtor. Unless of course the levying agent is a government agency. We may warn taxpayers first, but the Illinois Department of Revenue grabs money from banks and wages all the time. Especially if you're employed by us!

D. The mortgage is secured by the property, not by the property owner’s lawyer’s client trust account. (Even with a court order I’m not sure a bank could garnish funds out of the trust account - I suspect they might have to wait until the funds actually hit an account in the name of the client.)
