ViewPointV is a mod that reimagines the game's camera system, introducing custom, user-configurable cameras that make the game feel more modern and immersive.

Some of the features:

  • All cameras use Linear / Catmull Rom Interpolation when moving, rotating, and changing FOV to create a clean, smooth, and satisfying experience

  • Natural head movement simulation, using PID algorithm

  • The mod is made to be integrated into the game without feeling like a mod, all you have to do to switch cameras is press V like you usually do

  • Create unique configurations for specific vehicles (Add on vehicles supported). All settings are automatically saved and updated in game

  • For the FiveM version, your settings will be saved locally, which means your settings will persist even when switching to a differenent server that has ViewPointV!

Quick Start Guide:

Controls:

  • V - switch cameras

  • F9 - open menu

  • DEL - Head Body Camera

  • END - Shoulder Body Camera

  • PG DN - Chest Body Camera

All you need to do to switch between cameras is press your SWITCH CAMERA control (V by default) as you usually do. By default, all cameras are enabled so you'll have to cycle through them all, but you can go to Toggle Cameras and disable the cameras that you don't want to be in the list.

The cameras are separated into categories:

On Foot Cameras - these cameras are only available when walking on foot. Cycle through them using Switch Camera Control (V for keyboard users)

  • Default Game Cameras (Close/Mid/Far/FP)

  • ViewPointV: First Person Camera

  • ViewPointV: Third Person Camera

  • ViewPointV: On Foot Classic GTA Top Down View Camera

Body Cameras - you can switch to those at any moment by pressing a corresponding key (modify via Controls.ini). They are not part of the cyclable cameras, but you can still select them as your aim cameras in case you enable Auto Switch On Aim.

  • ViewPointV: Chest Camera

  • ViewPointV: Shoulder Camera

  • ViewPointV: Head Camera

Car Cameras - these cameras are only available when driving a car. Cycle through them using Switch Camera Control (V for keyboard users)

  • Default Game Cameras (Close/Mid/Far/FP)

  • ViewPointV: On Foot First Person Camera

  • ViewPointV: On Foot Third Person Camera

  • ViewPointV: On Foot Classic GTA Top Down View Camera

Motorcycle Cameras - these cameras are only available when driving a motorcycle. Cycle through them using Switch Camera Control (V for keyboard users)

Helicopter Cameras - these cameras are only available when flying a helicopter. Cycle through them using Switch Camera Control (V for keyboard users)

  • Default Game Cameras (Close/Mid/Far/FP)

  • ViewPointV: Helicopter First Person Camera

  • ViewPointV: Helicopter Chase Camera

  • ViewPointV: Helicopter Cinematic Chase Camera

  • ViewPointV: Helicopter Dash Camera

  • ViewPointV: Helicopter Classic GTA Top Down View Camera

Plane Cameras - these cameras are only available when flying a plane. Cycle through them using Switch Camera Control (V for keyboard users)

  • Default Game Cameras (Close/Mid/Far/FP)

  • ViewPointV: Plane First Person Camera

  • ViewPointV: Plane Chase Camera

  • ViewPointV: Plane Cinematic Chase Camera

  • ViewPointV: Plane Dash Camera

  • ViewPointV: Plane Classic GTA Top Down View Camera

On Event Cameras - these cameras are automatically triggered on certain events

Vehicle Entry Event

  • ViewPointV: Victim's First Person Camera

  • ViewPointV: Cinematic Angles Camera

Cameras from different categories that share names, are still different cameras with their own settings. They share a big part of the logic, but were also tweaked specifically for their corresponding category. That means that modifying settings of one, for example the Helicopter First Person Camera, won't affect the settings of another, for example the Car First Person Camera, even if you're modifying Global Settings.

The On Event Cameras is a new category, it currently only has the Vehicle Entry Event that contains 2 cameras, but more are coming soon!

On Event Cameras are basically scripted transition cameras that are triggered on certain events for about 2-3 seconds.

When an event occurs (for example Vehicle Entry), ViewPointV will select a random camera from those that you checked in the list.

Decheck all of them to completely disable Vehicle Entry Cameras.

ViewPointV Main Settings

Camera Switch Notifications

Toggle camera switch notifications that are shown in the top left corner of the screen

Force 3rd Person Audio

This option will force the game to use the 3rd person weapon sounds, when using ViewPoint's On Foot First Person, Head Camera, or the Chest Camera

Enable this if you're using a weapon sound mod that doesn't have proper 1st person audio

Auto Switch On Aim

You can combine different views for aiming and non aiming on foot cameras.

 For example:

Regular Camera: Default Game Camera: Close

Aiming Camera: ViewPointV: First Person Camera

or

Non Aiming Camera: ViewPointV: Third Person Camera

Aiming Camera: ViewPointV: Head Camera

All possible combinations will work

Overlay Settings

Here you can configure the Body Camera Overlay displayed in the top right corner.

You can change the logo, and edit the offsets and the scales of both the logo and the text.

CollisionFX Settings

CollisionFX is a mod that I released a long time ago on GTA5Mods and now is a part of ViewPointV, that adds screen effects on collisions and very sudden accelerations/decelerations. It includes blur, chromatic aberration (a timecycle effect which means will not be visible if you're using NVE), reverb, and camera shake.

Delta speed is the minumum speed difference to trigget the effect.

You can toggle each effect on/off, and increase/decrease the length of the effect.

Hey ruslan this is a great mod but i have a suggestion and I'm wondering if you could add this. So basically i want to be able to adjust my reticle so in first person it goes infront of my gun so the bullets wont curve. Do you think you could add a setting to move your reticle?

Thank you! Current reticle is drawn using ray casting, and sometimes the aim is off. I am aware of the issue, and will solve it soon.

It's a very nice mod. One grip is that the controller button to change the view doesn't seem to work, it not bad but a bit annoying to have to press V instead.

That was indeed the issue thank you for your reply the mod is phenomenal however i feel the intensity of the camera bob can make you feel a little queasy at times but other than that it’s really fun to play with

Awesome! thank you. Played for a few hours with the First Person Cams last night and its phenomenal!! Any chance we would be able to look downward in first person while unarmed in a future update? I noticed you can only look downward while armed.

Thank you very much! The reason I limited looking down is that the camera starts clipping through his body at this point. I will look if I can expand the axis a bit :)

1. No problem, I will add the overlay to the shoulder camera 2. About Headcam - I plan to add x, y, z in the coming updates but the First Person Camera is a bit tricky, just like you said due to clipping. You essentially can't move it without causing clipping issues. 3. In your mod is there an option to lock camera behind player in third person view? meaning camera is always facing in the direction player is facing? Really need something like this. Most super hero mods make characters attack really fast and camera ends up all over the place.

For some reason. When I enter a vehicle with the chest camera on, It cuts back to the third person vehicle camera and I cannot switch back to the shoulder camera. Think you could help? Thanks!

It is currently impossible to use the on foot cameras in vehicles, but I will add this possibility for you. Just never crossed my mind tbh

Sorry I had to be more specific, I meant that you can toggle the radar via the mod's menu, not the game menu. When in DashCam view mode press F9 -> Edit This Camera -> Hide Radar

brother, I installed it according to all the tutorials, but when I open f9 and select ViewPointV's first person mode and go back and click on the option to link the camera nothing happens, not even when I press "V" to change the options, and after I change to First person, I can no longer activate the mod using F9, I have to give the command to reset the Scripts, I thought it could be the Extended Camera Settings mod, but even after removing it it still doesn't work.

Send me your ScriptHookDotNet.log located in your GTA directory, and I will tell you how to fix. About reloading the mod without restarting the game, you can reload all script mods by opening the SHDNV console (F4 by default) and typing Reload(). You can also edit ScriptHookDotNet.ini to create a hotkey for that. Send me a DM on Discord with your log I will help you fix it

The regular SHDNV is not compatible with the latest GTA update. You have to use the nightly build for now. Luckily ViewPointV has 2 versions, one that is compatible with the regular and one with the nightly build. If you need help send me a message on Discord.

Hey, the reason for that is you're using a sound mod that doesn't have proper 1st person sounds. I added an option to force 3rd person audio for the next update to fix this issue.

There are builds for both the regular and the nightly builds of SHDNV. If you're using the latest GTA update, regular SHDNV is no longer compatible with the game so you're forced to use the nightly version and the nightly build of the mod.

Great mod and amazing work! Is this mod mainly for Keyboard users? It could be user error on my end but the controls don't seem to translate to controller. It's like I can't turn my body and he stops to make small little turns before moving forward at normal speed. Also when I press ASD keys on WASD they seem to just make the char walk forward. It seems to work great when I play it like an FPS on keyboard though so I may just need to adapt my controls.
