I *knew* you'd love this movie! I watch White Christmas every single year along with It's a Wonderful Life and The Bells of St. Mary's (not per se a Christmas movie but it just feels right at the holidays). It was so fun watching you see this for the first time. :-)

You need to see the Hope and Crosby “Road To …” movies!!

I’m normally not a fan of the movie (since it was made at the 50’s end of studio musicals, hence the army-sentimental plot, and a big TV broadcast instead of putting on that big nightclub show), but I watched it to see Ash’s first exposure to Danny Kaye. And whether we’d see her digging out her copy of The Court Jester any time soon in he new year. Also, here in Northampton MA, Smith is a historic girls’ college, so when Bing and Danny audition the first two ditzy showgirls, “Okay….So they DIDN’T graduate from Smith!” always gets a laugh. 😆

You would like the original Bing Crosby movie "Holiday Inn", but since it has a blackface number, you probably don't want to review it. It has the first use of "White Christmas", lots of dancing, singing, and a good story.

Eric Janssen

It’s technically not a “Christmas movie”, though, since it takes place over an entire year of holiday numbers— For those who ever wanted to hear an Irving Berlin song about Washington’s Birthday, or see Fred Astaire dance with Fourth of July firecrackers going off under his feet.

I agree, but "White Christmas" certainly plays a prominent part in IT. I always included it in my Christmas list of movies.

Rosemary Clooney had mental health issues later and had to take some years off from performing. She later returned and worked with Bing onstage a number of times in the 1970s. (And yes, she's George's Aunt.) Both Rosemary and Vera-Ellen originally came from here in the Cincinnati, Ohio area!

The long-term project of turning Ashleigh into a Turner Classic Movies fan seems to be going well!

would love to see her reaction to the gym dance scene in She's Working Her Way Through College (1952)

Is it too early to request a Doris Day movie for February? That Touch of Mink, Lover Come Back, Pillow Talk, just pick one!

Sean Novack

You mean the Army that saved the world from Nazi and Imperial Japanese atrocities? Yeah, I can see why you'd hate that.

Mark Ten

Id love to see a reaction to "Batteries Not Included" (1987 movie)

I feel like if Ashleigh liked this as much as she did, she’d adore Singin’ in the Rain

If you want to cry, "the green mile". If you want to laugh, "what's up doc".
