I never clicked on anything so fast in my life. Been waiting for this one!

One of my favourite films of all time, so much hype!

It's a good movie and you see him go through the stages of selfishness, desperation, and finally, he starts learning and helping. But now you know the cultural reference when somebody describes doing the same thing as Groundhog Day. Nothing to do with the actual tradition, totally this movie. Bill Murray does the asshole roles simply because he's good at it. Now you need to see Stripes (1981), which has both Bill Murray AND John Candy. Two of your favorites. Also Harold Ramis who co-starred with Bill Murray three years later in Ghostbusters.

I still think its insane how in the original concept for the story Bill was trapped repeating the same day for 10,000 years. In this film however he was trapped for 10 years.

He was stuck in a timeloop. He had to live the perfect day. Bill Murray's schtick is being a wise guy. A lot of the characters he created on SNL are smart asses. Checkout Todd the nerd sketches. Other good Bill Murray movies are Meatballs and Stripes. You still need to do Ghostbusters 2.

That "butter" was actually chocolates. A lot of hotels will put a square of chocolate or mints on your pillow. Also the mayor was Brian Doyle-Murray, Bill's half brother, who was the boss of the caddies in Caddyshack.

Sorry to hear about the homeless man you knew. Sad to see you cry. On a lighter note cant wait for the unboxing tonight😀

Ashleigh, the story about Leroy was very heartwarming and nice of you to share with us. This is just living proof that you have a heart of gold, and nobody can say any different. If they do I’ll fight them for you! Anyways, glad you enjoyed this one!

The van driver was David Letterman's funnyman and writer Chris Elliot... And the man on the podium announcing everything is Bill Murray's brother Brian Doyle Murray... Who was on SNL in the seventies with Bill occasionally...

What about Bob is a good Bill Murry movie

YES!!!!!!! BILL MURRAY & RICHARD DRYFUS IN WHAT ABOUT BOB!!!!!!!!! AWESOME!!!!

The guy behind Bill Murray is clapping with his hands cupped because, as a "Background Actor" aka "Extra" he isn't allowed to make any sound so that the principal actor's dialogue can be recorded cleanly, so the extra's hands can't actually touch each other when he claps. Since he's so close to the camera, if he was clapping with his hands in a normal position, the camera would see that his hands weren't making contact. So, by cupping his hands, it hides this fact. It's quite odd to see a room full of people silently clapping, mouthing soundless cheers, etc. The clapping sounds, etc., are added in by the sound designers afterward. When I work with extras on film/tv/etc., I just tell them to turn their hands flat to the camera.

Chris Elliott is the middle generation of a comedy dynasty. His father was the great Bob Elliott of the comedy duo Bob and Ray. Bob Elliott was in Bill Murray's "Quick Change." Chris Elliott's daughter Abby Elliott is a comedy actress who appeared on Saturday Night Live (and since Chris Elliott also appeared as a regular cast member on SNL, she became the first 2nd Generation cast member, and since her grandfather appeared on the show once in the 70s, also 3rd generation appearance). You'll see Chris again. He's in The Abyss, There's Something About Mary, and Kingpin (if you get to that one -- it's got Bill Murray in it).

Tyler Foster

He plays a different kind of character in What About Bob?, which others have mentioned. The other one that comes to mind is The Man Who Knew Too Little. He is very good in Wes Anderson's movies: The Life Aquatic, Rushmore, and Fantastic Mr. Fox, but the first two (he is a supporting character in Fox), he plays his usual type.

I hate it when people put a gun to my head and force me to rank Bill Murray movies. LOL

A classic Bill Murray movie where he doesn't play the smart ass a-hole? That would be 'What About Bob!'

Harold Ramos directed this movie and had a cameo as the doctor.

I love this movie so much. I've it a couple of times just in the last couple of months. I don't particularly like Andie MacDowell as an actress, but I'll sit through her just to watch this movie.

Feb, 1st..Happy birthday to me :)

The guy making the proclamation is Brian Doyle Murray, Bill's brother

Bill Murray plays the "smartass" quite well....i've heard he likes to mess with people IRL...one of the stories I've heard is that he's been known to approach lone diners in Wendy's, steal a handful of their fries and say "No one will ever believe you." lol

Happy to hear you say on the YouTube live tonight that you are doing Stripes. Yay! That IS a classic. I get confused by so many of the hidden gem/lesser known (or unknown) films people keep recommending for you (Always?!! Really?). I get that everyone has personal favourites, but I thought the point was to hit those big classic movies that shock people when you say you haven’t seen them. I love the movie The Ref, but would never suggest it. It’s not a classic, Joe Schmoe on the street probably never heard of it. It’s just one that I personally like.

Bill Murray in Lost in Translation--different kind of movie. If you want to see something fun with Murray, watch him on the Graham Norton show publicizing Monument Men with Matt Damon and Hugh Bonneville. Hilarious!

Anonymous

He plays a charming rogue in Meatballs, which is a heartwarming movie about a summer camp.

RIP Leroy. You were a cool dude with mad Scrabble skills, and you are missed. 😓🛐

On the Bill Murray kick he comes to Cincinnati all the time as he is a huge Xavier University basketball fan.

Maybe not look at the poster next time? We were disappointed at how much you guessed right, just from the tag line on the poster. Would have been even better if you had gone into it totally blind. Still loved it, though! 🥰
