One of the things that can sometimes be really great about sequels or re-makes is the opportunity for some of the original actors to make cameos. In the remake, if you watch closely, you'll see that John Waters (the director) plays the psychiatrist in the original movie and then he makes a cameo as the "flasher" in the remake. Jerry Stiller, who plays Tracy Turnblad's dad in this original (who is also the real father of Ben Stiller), appears in the remake as Mr. Pinky... And the original Tracy Turnblad herself, Ricki Lake, makes a surprise appearance as well! Though I'm not going to spoil the surprise... we'll just have to watch the Remake together again! Yes, you should do it!

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet, but John Waters himself was the crazy psychiatrist. He also had a cameo in the musical. He was the "Flasher who lives next door"!!
