If I recall correctly, Ian Fleming was sued when the book came out. Because "Goldfinger" was a transparent reference to a powerful UK businessman at the time. If no one's mentioned it before, Ian Fleming was actually a spy. James Bond is, I think, an "improved" version of himself. He was reportedly quite charming. Some of the events in the books are based on his actual experiences in the espionage game. Naturally, the movies did not adhere to the books. So it's hard for me to say what's Fleming and what was added or changed by the movie people. BTW, this is probably the only time I've seen the end of a James Bond movie. I've started to watch all of them, and enjoyed myself. But about an hour in, I get so bored I have to shut it off and do something else. I *do* like the Austin Powers movies, though. They take me back to the time in which I grew up.
