I explored Visco, a novel drum sampler that uniquely processes samples in the spectral domain. Here's a summary of its key features and functionalities:

  • Spectral Sample Splitting: Visco differentiates itself by splitting drum samples into spectral components, allowing for extensive morphing and sound design, particularly with percussive sounds.

  • User Interface: The interface includes eight pads for loading drum samples (like kick drums and snares), with each pad featuring a canvas for spectral manipulation. Samples can be morphed between two loaded sounds per pad, blending them spectrally.

  • Modifiers: Various modifiers on the left side enable users to stretch or compress sounds in both time and frequency domains. This includes generating or emphasizing overtones, and spectrally resynthesizing sounds for unique timbres.

  • Sample Manipulation Tools: Tools such as drag, attractor, and mirror offer creative ways to alter samples, including reversing frequencies or modifying the sound's spectral qualities.

  • Performance Dynamics: Visco incorporates velocity sensitivity, allowing changes in sound characteristics based on how hard a key is pressed. This feature adds expressive variability to static samples.

  • Global Controls: Besides individual pad adjustments, global modifiers affect all pads simultaneously, useful for cohesive transformations across all samples during playback.

  • Additional Features: The plugin includes a sequencer (though minimally emphasized), a mixing page with basic effects, and theme customization. It's compact in size (3MB for Windows) and priced at $99. Despite its focus on percussive elements, experimenting with tonal sounds is possible but with limitations in pitch accuracy.

Overall, Visco presents an innovative approach to drum sampling and sound design, offering both individual and global control over spectral manipulation, with a particular emphasis on visual interaction and performance dynamics.

this new plugin is fresh and innovative

I checked out VISCO by @Forever-89-Studio today. At first glance, it's just a drum sampler, but on a second look, it's actually a sound design tool like no other. If you like painting with frequencies and timing information, this is the place to be. This type of plugin doesn't interest me in the slightest. Especially not for *gulp* $129!? $99 on sale? At least present us with a higher quality blob in the UI.

great!may I ask a question? How to use grid to make a device that can make negative harmonic?

Your videos are great because you actually understand the plugins. Often people make videos about a plugin without knowing what it does or how to use it. Thanks for knowing your stuff! 👌
