Hi all, Abel here.

So the last two blogs were about the Liberty Global Appathon and about Coen, one of our new interns. I'd like to follow up on both and give you some general updates. Next to that, I have a bonus comic that you probably won't get unless you spend a lot of time on Reddit.

Appathon: we didn't win, sadly. We didn't even reach the top 6.

Sike.

The coaches gave us high marks, however. Which was reassuring, because we all really liked the concept of our game. So much so, that we don't want to ditch it without any second thought. Without giving too much away, we might have some announcements related to this game soon!

Interns: going strong! You might have noticed the backgrounds in the recent comics. They're a lot more beautiful and sophisticated than usual, and that's thanks to Coen Balkestein, our art intern, who wrote the last blog. He's been helping A LOT with the comics lately (more free time for me, yay) and he'll probably continue to do so in the coming months. So expect some beautiful comics in the near future!

Luuk, our other intern, has been dealing with some personal issues, unfortunately. Our thoughts are with him and his family and we're sure he'll be able to do some kickass work when he gets back!

Bonus comic: the past months I very sporadically worked on a comic specifically for the subreddit reddit.com/r/comics. It's a cool sub. Not that crowded, but no small fry either. I spend a lot of time there, to see what kind of content other comic artists make. I quickly noticed a trend of humanoid figures symbolizing abstract concepts like "life", "anxiety", "emotion", stuff like that. I also noticed a TON of white backgrounds, which I hate, because Keno Don Rosa is my biggest hero and influence (which you'd know if you read these blogs). So I quickly got tempted to create a huge parody of the subreddit and winking at the top posters on that sub. To make the comic, I sorted the sub on top content of all time and tried to spoof the top content as accurately as I could. I quickly noticed I was mostly parodying Owl Turd, which isn't that odd, since his comics make up like... 75% of the top content of /r/comics. For good reason, too. His work is awesome. He's pretty famous and also on Patreon, actually, so do check him out! I contacted him before posting this comic to see if he was okay with it, which he was, thankfully.

Here's to being as famous as Shen one day!

Cheers,

Abel
