What’s this, a crossover episode?

It kinda is! We hadn’t finished the final three Thanos Preparing for Endgame comics by this time last week, so those haven’t gotten their place in the Hidden Details-spotlight yet. We also made a Game of Thrones comic last Wednesday, so that one will be included in this blog post as well! Luckily, there are only three hidden details in the Game of Thrones comic, so it won’t be too lengthy.

Let’s start with Thanos though!

Iron Man

All the businessmen in the first panel actually exist, except for Thanos. The guy on the left is Kevin Feige (Marvel Studios boss). He also appeared in the War Machine comic. In that comic, he wore a cap with a Fantastic Four logo. In this comic, he’s foreshadowing Magneto’s appearance by wearing a cap with an X-Men logo.

The guy to with the glasses is Peter Rice, former president of 21st Century Fox (now president of Walt Disney Television).

The guy to the right is Bob Iger, the final boss and CEO of Disney.

Also, Thanos is wearing a dashing tie that might look like a fashion statement to show his support for LGBT+ rights. But those are also the colors of all six Infinity Stones.

The headline thingy reveals that Micky Mouse will soon announce his presidential run. It’s a lighthearted joke, but Disney is kinda taking over the world, so… how much of joke is it, really?

Thanos and Magneto had custom shirts printed to completely obliterate Tony’s morale. On it, you can see a graphic of Peter Parker/Spider Man being decimated after the Snap.

Captain America seems to be EXTREMELY pissed in the Endgame trailers, so in this comic, the A on his helmet stands for Angry As fuck.

After Thanos’ time travel shenanigans, it stands for Anti vAx.

The Infinity Notebook (same brand as Thanos’ Infinity Whiteboard) functions as a quick recap of the previous 10 episodes. Apparently, Thanos calls beating Hulk in Smash “0 to death combo”.

In the background, you can see the scorched Infinity Gauntlet in Thanos’ cabin.

In the background of the second panel, you can see the cat tower that Thanos bought for Goose. Maybe he was never planning on killing the cat/flerken after all.

There’s also a framed photograph of Thanos and his daughter Gamora. Nebula is – unfortunately – cropped off. I’m sure that’s not intentional.

In the thought bubble in the third panel, Thanos keeps repeating his iconic “the hardest choices require the strongest wills” line from Infinity War in his head. Also, he intermittently thinks “I killed my own daughter. How hard could a cat be?”.

In the final panel, you can see Goose happily frolicking in the background. He even extended his scary murder tentacles as he does in Captain Marvel.

And that’s it for Thanos Preparing for Endgame! Without further ado, let’s move on to the first Game of Thrones comic, AKA Stiff as a Board:

In the third panel, Beric Dondarrion asks “Background Soldier #2” to turn on the light in the castle. The fact that there’s a light switch in a medieval castle is an absurd little joke, but Background Soldier #2 has a deeper meaning: I rewatched the scene and in the beginning, Tormund and Beric are accompanied by AT LEAST two background soldiers. As soon as they meet Edd, the background soldiers are suddenly gone. Nowhere to be seen. I felt like pointing out the disrespectful way background soldiers are treated in this episode.

In the fourth panel, Beric’s eyepatch is lifted from his face and it reveals that he isn’t missing an eye, after all. It’s all for show!

In the final panel, there’s a Cleganebowl behind Bran, hidden in the shadows. I regularly hid a Cleganebowl in the Game of Thrones comics during previous seasons, so I wanted to continue the tradition this year! Expect many hidden Cleganebowls in the upcoming comics!

And that’s it. Hope you’ve enjoyed this dual episode! By next week, Endgame will have come and gone so there won’t be any Thanos comics anymore. Instead, we’ll have a full blog for the comic about episode 2 of Game of Thrones. Let’s hope it’ll be good!

Cheers!
