Hey all! Here's another Hidden Details blog for ya. It's short and sweet this week, so let me add a little something to make it a bit beefier:

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT! We're slowly but steadily creeping towards the 200 dollar a month, which is peanuts compared to many other Patreon-artists, but it still feels like a huge deal. We really, really, really appreciate it.

Now let's get into those hidden details of this week's comic: part 13 in the Everyone is Home series: I Can Has Diagnosis? That title is a reference to the classic I Can Has Cheezburger/LOLcats memes, from back when the internet was young.

Right behind Incineroar in the first panel, there's one of those eyesight-posters you see at doctor's offices. This one has some peculiar letters on it though. They spell "B U F F D R M A R I O". Incineroar is blocking the rest, so the following bit of information is a bit obsolete, but the full text in the Photoshop file reads "B U F F D R M A R I O H E N E E D S I T !".

Dr. Mario is number 49 from the 55 fighters in the official Smash 4 tier list. So he does indeed need some buffs. Hopefully Super Smash Bros Ultimate will be kind to him.

Also, there are still some pieces of terracotta pot, dirt and root visible in Incineroar's hair. This is a callback to the previous two comics. In You Really Are a Heel, he is about to get smashed by Piranha Plant. In Super Smash Bias, you can see Piranha Plant sitting on top of his head, post-smash. After this comic, I won't draw Incineroar with traces of potted plant on his head anymore. It's over.

There's a bunch of papers on Dr. Mario's desk, with some little references/jokes on them. The first one is Dr. Mario's to do-list. He apparently needs to get his medical degree. If he does though, what is hanging on his office wall in the first Everyone is Home comic? Oh, the mystery! Or is a PHD something different than a medical degree? I honestly don't know.

Next, there's a bunch of failed attempts at drawing a "cool S" or "Super S Stussy" or whatever you wanna call it. If you're familiar with our comics, you should know that these things pop up now and then. I should really keep a list of all the cool S-appearances to date.

And lastly, there's a piece of paper with gibberish on it, since Dr. Mario IS a doctor, after all, who have notoriously bad handwriting.

This little detail... ties into next week's comic, so I'm not going to explain it yet. But it seems that next week, the Smash cast is going on a field trip to Lake Powell! If you know Lake Powell or if you Google it, you might get a clue of where I'm getting at next week.

The fact that Snake is sharing a bed (or a room, at least) with Samus is another direct follow-up to last week's comic. In Super Smash Bias, Sakurai tells the group that Snake and Samus have to share a room from that moment on. They didn't seem to mind:

Seems like those two have taken things to the next level! But let's keep this comic somewhat safe for work, ok?

I didn't want to suggest TOO much, but you can see Samus' Zero Suit lying on the floor next to the bed, as well as an empty bottle of booze. You can kinda get an idea of what happened in this room, right?

ANOTHER reference to an earlier comic! Boy, I'm on a roll this week. Here, we once again see Pichu, who calls himself Blackrose. Pikachu (his "older brother" in many ways), has confiscated the little whip Pichu likes to use to hurt himself. Pichu actually hurts himself in Smash Bros. Melee and now Ultimate. I made a comic about it a few months ago.

Sometimes, when I browse /r/SmashBros, I see people calling Pichu Blackrose out of the blue. I love that I've created a small meme that pops up now and then in the Smash Bros fanbase.

And lastly, more memes. There's a poster about Ligma in the final four panels of this comic. I've known it as a stupid meme that would appear on subreddits like /r/dankmemes now and then, but now that I've read the Know Your Meme article, I discovered it's origin is related to Fortnite and Ninja. I had no idea. I included this one because I uploaded a VERY early version of the first panel to Instagram and user camk_spams commented "He probably has ligma". I thought that was funny (in an ironic way, really!) so I decided to put a ligma reference somewhere in the comic. Gotta stay cool with the kids.

And there you have it, all the hidden details in this week's comic. I'll be back next week, with a comic that, right now, looks like it's going to be chock-full of details like this. I can't wait!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Cheers,

- Abel
