I don't even know where to start with this one... this image is basically one big party of obscure references and jokes.

Before I start revealing the few truly hidden details, I think I'll just highlight a few of the more obscure costume choices and give some backstory for some of them. If you don't recognize a costume, check out this image.

Little Mac is dressed as Saitama (One Punch Man), because of his K.O. Punch move, obviously.

Ridley is dressed as Barney the Dinosaur because a) they're both creepy purple reptiles and b) because I had Ganondorf call Ridley "Barney" in "Evil Memes".

Pichu is dressed as as gimp, since Pichu has chosen the name "Blackrose" in the Everyone is Home universe and is into hardcore bondage, as seen in "Painchu".

In case you've never heard about Sonichu, I'll just say Sonic is dressed as Pikachu in this image. There's no need to delve deeper into the Sonichu lore if your mind is still a clean slate.

Snake is dressed as Hideo Kojima, the legendary game designer and Metal Gear Solid's creator. Or is it actually Hideo Kojima dressed as Solid Snake?

Did you know that Mega Man was originally created to be Capcom's own version of Astro Boy? So basically, Mega Man is dressed as himself here!

Shulk's costume is a bit obscure. Back when Super Smash Bros for Wii U/3DS wasn't released yet, the full roster was leaked by an employee of the ESRB. There were lots of people claiming the picture was fake, though. They argued that Shulk was obviously a Photoshopped Little Mac. This sentence turned into a meme (because it was blatantly wrong), hence Shulk's costume in this comic.

Jigglypuff is dressed as Hungrybox (Juan Manuel Debiedma), who is considered to be the #1 Jigglypuff player in the world (Melee, of course). I thought the resemblance was pretty spot-on.

Samus' costume isn't even a costume, it's just a recolor. Amazing how much she looks like Master Chief with just a new paint job. This costume is also a reference to an old animation that was very popular on the web years ago.

We chose to have Link dressed as Shantae because of Breath of the Wild. In Breath of the Wild, Link can dress up as a Gerudo belly dancer and we thought it'd be funny if Link became a pro belly dancer after that experience. So naturally, he chose to dress himself as gaming's most famous belly dancer, Shantae!

That's it for costume spotlight. Now, let's dive into the TRUE hidden details.

First off: a lot of characters are holding Halloween buckets. Some of them are regular buckets, but others are references to various pop culture phenomena:

Ike, who's dressed as He-Man, is holding a Skeletor bucket.

Charizard, who's dressed as Squirtle, has a Poké Ball bucket.

Zelda, dressed as Princess Kenny, is holding a bucket that seems like a regular pumpkin at first glance, but it's actually an Ordon Pumpkin from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

Ness, dressed as The Walking Dead antagonist Negan, has a bucket that looks like a zombie head.

Jigglypuff, dressed as Hungrybox, is holding a bucket resembling the seventh generation Pokémon Pumpkaboo (minus the top part).

And lastly, since he's dressed as Bob Belcher from Bob's Burgers, Mario's bucket looks like a hamburger!

Now, let's get into the TRUE TRUE hidden details, ok?

While I'm writing this (Tuesday evening), the Grinch leak hasn't been debunked or confirmed yet. That's why I didn't include the Grinch leak characters in this comic. At least... not prominently. It'd be a huge shame to have the leak be debunked shortly after making a comic about Isaac, Banjo, the Chorus Kids, Shadow, Geno and Mach Rider, so I tried to play it safely. When this blog goes online, we'll have seen the Thursday Nintendo Direct, so we won't be in the dark any longer.

As I suggested, I actually did include the characters in the Grinch leak, but they're hidden in the background:

Between Mac and Cloud, you can see Isaac run along the rooftops.

Between Ridley and Ike, you can see the Chorus Kids.

Above Zelda and Sheik, you'll notice Shadow the Hedgehog and Mach Rider.

And above Fox, you can see the origin of the characters running along the rooftops. The Grinch, dressed as Santa, is carrying a huge bag, but the bag has been torn. Geno can be seen hopping out.

It's gonna be interesting to read this next Friday. I really hope the Grinch leak is true, so these background characters are not false promises. And if the leak is fake, at least they'll be references to one of the most elaborate and hilarious Smash leaks of all time!

The house the Smash characters are visiting is the home of the PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale characters! If this is a universe in which all the Smash characters live in one big house, the competition should have a house of their own! But since PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale came out in 2012 and hasn't had a sequel since, I chose to have them live in a retirement home, whereas the Everyone is Home-home is more daycare-like.

Inside the Retirement Home for PlayStation All-Stars, you'll see a counter that keeps track of how many days it's been since the last game was released. That amount of days is actually correct on October 31st, 2018. I counted the days myself.

Originally, the residents of the PlayStation home were cranky, mean people who didn't want to open the door for "those annoying kids from next door". I later changed it because it felt too negative, like I was saying the Smash characters are good and wholesome while the Sony characters are mean old farts. Now, they're just a bunch of dudes and chicks who forgot Halloween was happening.

And with that, I've pretty much revealed all the hidden details in this huge-ass panel. Hope you enjoyed this Halloween special and I hope you've all had an amazing Halloween!

See you next week!
