Here I am again, bringing you the freshest Hidden Details of this week's comic! I've drawn a whole bunch of Pokémon this week and I'm not sure if I'd classify this comic as a Pokémon comic or a Smash comic. I guess it's somewhere in the middle.

This comic "takes place" in Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Charizard was a single character in Smash for Wii U/3DS but is part of the Pokémon Trainer again in Ultimate, just like in Brawl.

So I decided to use a background that reflects this "return to the good old times". So I had the comic take place on the Saffron City stage, which is returning in Smash Ultimate, after debuting in Smash 64!

In the second panel, Charizard tells the gang he was a "pretty good" single character, being in the E tier. He thinks that's good, but it isn't. Charizard is currently ranked as the 43th best character in Smash Bros for Wii U/3DS. Out of 55. So he is one of the worst characters, apparently.

So no Charizard, E doesn't stand for Excellent. It might stand for Egregious in your case, though.

Those attacks that Squirtle and Ivysaur use to kick Charizard's ass are moves the can actually use in Smash. Squirtle uses Water Gun (which, admittedly, doesn't do damage in Smash but only pushes opponents away) and Ivysaur uses Bullet Seed (which shouldn't hurt a Fire/Flying type like Charizard that much, but ah well).

When Charizard is being beaten, I made the other Pokémon and the trainer watch from a safe distance, looking menacing. Squirtly, especially, in the fourth panel. He don's his shades from the anime in this panel to look even more ruthless than normal. In the anime, Squirtle is the leader of the Squirtle gang and he wears these super hip shades.

In the fifth panel, Ivysaur has stolen Squirtle's shades because he wants to look cool and menacing in the background as well. Squirtle can be seen looking for his shades, next to the Pokémon Trainer.

And... that's it, actually. I thought there were more hidden details in this comic, but I've scanned it multiple times and these are the only ones I could find. Which isn't THAT weird since the animation took a loooooong time so I didn't have much time left to do the amount of hidden gags I usually do.

Still, I hope you've enjoyed these few! I will see you all next week again!

Cheers!

- Abel
