Welcome to the second Hidden Details blog. Since the Detective Pikachu comic from last Wednesday doesn't have that many hidden details (although there are some!), I decided to backtrack a few weeks and write about the Black Panther comic I made earlier this month. Here goes!

The first one is pretty obvious. Okoye has gotten a nice, big, wet kiss from W'Kabi's rhino, which actually happens in the movie. This was also an excuse to make Okoye appear in the comic since she's badass.

I shoehorned this one in, but I couldn't resist including a wink to T'Challa's "I nevah freeze" line.

This one is cool. All the animals in this frame are based on animal-themed heroes/villains from the Marvel universe:

- The falcon: Falcon/Sam Wilson (obviously
- The spider: Spider-Man/Peter Parker
- The wasp: The Wasp/Hope van Dyne
- The squirrel: Squirrel Girl/Doreen Green (hasn't appeared in any MCU production yet)
- The vulture: Vulture/Adrian Toomes
- The ant: Ant-Man/Scott Lang
- The mantis: Mantis
- The wolverine: Wolverine/Logan. You can see he's dreaming about a fox which has been crossed out. This represents Disney's acquisition of the Marvel rights that were previously owned by Fox, including X-Men, Fantastic Four, Deadpool and Wolverine.

And that leaves us with the final frame. This frame is chock-full of references and hidden jokes and although I'm sure a few are super obvious, there are also a few details people might have missed.

"lesklaue" is a worldplay on Les Paul. Also, Ulysses Klaue is from Belgium! Actually: he was born in the Netherlands, just like me! But he has a Belgian passport, so I decided to make Hasselt his hometown. I don't have any special connection to Hasselt, I just like the sound of Hasselt. It sounds super Belgian.

This is one of the obscure ones. The amount of followers Ulysses Klaue has (1.405 B) happens to be the exact same amount of money Avengers: Age of Ultron - which was Klaue's first appearance - made at the box office!

Klaue's first song is Museum Heist ft. Erik Killmonger. This is - obviously - a reference to the scene in Black Panther where Klaue and Killmonger steal a vibranium relic from a museum.

Klaue's next song is called Cuttlefish (Afraid Of Something), which is a direct reference to his dialogue in Age of Ultron. When Scarlet Witch tells him "everybody is afraid of something", he replies with "cuttlefish!". Also, to the right of the title, you can see the song is 3 years old, which means this song is exactly as old as Age of Ultron. The #schlager tag is completely random though.

This one is referencing a super witty joke that's been going around on the internet, calling Ulysses Klaue/Andy Serkis and Everett Ross/Martin Freeman "the Tolkien White Guys" since they're the only two white guys in Black Panther and happen to have played a big role in Tolkien movies.

Ah! Klaue's "liked" section! First, there's Natasha Romanoff's "Beep Beep", which is referencing her infamous line in Age of Ultron. Then there's Haddaway's What Is Love, which should be kinda obvious if you've seen Black Panther (Klaue sings this song while being held captive). And then lastly, there's Get Help by the Odin Brothers. If you've seen Thor: Ragnarok, you'll know that "Get Help" is a huge hit by Thor and Loki.

In the "Following" section, you can see a few other artists Klaue apparently follows, like the Broken White Boys, consisting of Bucky Barnes and Everett Ross. Shuri calls Everett Ross "another broken white boy for me to fix" in Black Panther, referencing Bucky at the end of Captain America: Civil War. Also, Korg apparently is a musician as well, and calls himself "Perishable Rock", just like in Thor: Ragnarok. Pity he only has two followers, though. Probably Miek and Thor.

And that's it for the second Hidden Details blog. Hope I have been able to reveal some stuff you hadn't found yourself!

Cheers!

- Abel

Its crazy the amount of references you squeezed in, especial the number ones

The best for me here was the amount of Money Age of Ultron made! Well done on all of these tho, I finally hit these category (I do backlog trip from the beginning, one month a (week-)day ;-)
