Bi-weekly blog #22: the Sport of Making Shorts (Patreon)

Hi everyone, quick update from the Wooden offices!

Around Christmas last year, I made a short video titled 2016's Wild Ride. 

Making this video was a huge undertaking for both me and Coen. I was really confident it was gonna be extremely popular. A wonky animation with all the weird stuff that happened in 2016, that's gotta be hilarious, right? Unfortunately, the short was a bit of a failure. It's sitting at about 2000 views on YouTube right now and even some of my closest friends haven't seen it. The "right" response to a failure like this is to move on, try harder, don't get sad, but it was pretty hard to realize all those hours of work resulted into... basically nothing.

Luckily, time heals all wounds and I'm feeling a lot better now. The past few years, I've had tons of ideas popping up in my had that were a bit too elaborate to make a comic of or would be a lot more funny with sound/music/voices. Also, in a few months, I'm requiting TWO interns, and they're both great animators. So I made a list of all the little ideas I had (funnily enough almost all of them are Nintendo-related) and I decided that, given the circumstances, after about half a year of hating the idea of making another short, I'm ready to try again!

So expect more sneak previews like this one in the coming weeks/months. This one features Magnus and Palutena from Kid Icarus, for the people who didn't know. That's all I'm going to say for now.
