All things must end, and A Saga of Blood, Iron, and Soil has reached its (relative) conclusion. Saga was a game built with two goals in mind:

  • Be as accurate to the Sagas and in turn history as possible
  • Prove BCS can be SRD'd.

Generally speaking, I believe I scored the second one pretty much head on. The concept of Blood, Coin, and Steel's systems being able to be applied elsewhere is proven and can work. The only major issue I can see is some overlap as well as some of that early Notepad Jank getting in the way. I'll need to spend an afternoon unfucking the house system. It's just messy.

As for the first part, well, I did my best. I honest to god thought I'd have a bit more to work with. Except I ended up with all the tools and resources between Fuck and All. Turns out the Vikings were a lot less known than we'd like to believe. I believe I got "Most" things as accurate as I could with what I have available. The only major issue I can see is that some of the "On Iceland" mechanics are a bit jank, but I'm working with dirt here people!

Overall, I think the system is functional, the only major issue I can see does involve some of the back issues as mentioned above. The actual Character to Character engagements are functional, though I really aught to find a more sissifying way to do combat.

BCS can be SRD'd with relative ease, though I'll need a bit more time to formalize EVERYTHING from that document down to a functional whole.

But alas, my Sigma Grindset continues on, as we get to work on HARDCORE MAGICAL GIRL ACTION. Wait Officer, no, not like thataaahhhh.
