Nope... Can't watch Up. I'm sure you'll love it, though. I just don't feel like crying.

I knew you hadn't seen it because there is no way you could forget this movie, lol. The film and especially the first 10 minutes immediately gets engraved in your mind that you cannot forget. This and Inside Out are my favorite Pixar films, this is so beautiful, well written, amazing animation and just a very great message. A lot of people say the first 10 minutes is only the good part or emotional part but I completely disagree, there are so many great moments such as finding out why Russel wanted his badge so much, it was an opportunity to spend time with his father, make him proud. They don't say but I think the parents divorced, Dad married someone else and just doesn't having time for him and or is not even really trying to, obviously his step-mom is not the best, saying to a kid that his son bugs him too much is horrible. The woman in the end is definitely his real mother. I love the symbolism of him letting go of his possessions, it's just great visual storytelling. And when he's looking at the book again and realizes there are new pages he hadn't noticed is my favorite scene, the fact that he was so regretful for not taking her on her adventure but now realizing he had was beautiful. Russel was also a very fun and sweet character. And it's also great that in the end he did get the child bond that they weren't able to have before. If you haven't seen Inside Out I strongly suggest it! Bring the tissues to that one as well.

Hi Natalie, great reaction as always. Two animated films from my childhood that I still watch to this day are The Secret of Nimh and The Last Unicorn. The former is about bravery and selflessness, with the protagonist terrified pretty much the entire time but choosing to act anyway. The latter is a dark medieval fairy tale about .. well... It's got a lot of themes, but it's beautiful and heartbreaking and bittersweet and lovely. If you haven't seen them yet, I would love to see you react to them, and if you haven't seen them yet, they are great movies whether you watch them on Youtube or not. PS There is one song in The Last Unicorn where the voice actress decided that she should sing, and shows why professional singers are brought on to sing in movies. That's my only major quibble about the movie.

I don't know if I live vicariously through your reactions or am a misogynist who likes seeing you cry but I really enjoyed your reaction to Up on YouTube. Thank you.
