Happy Feature Friday Nat. Haven't watched this one before so I'm intrigued to see what it's all about 😊 This movie wasn't really my cup of tea. I think I've seen one too many movies of guys sitting around tables shouting and cursing at one another. I think the only Scorsese movie that I've enjoyed to date and would actively watch again was the Cape Fear remake, the rest of his films are much of a muchness. Same story, different characters. You can't win them all. I enjoyed the weird deer movie yesterday so much more, so I guess that makes me crazy 😂 Thanks for your reaction today Nat, and all your great videos this week. Enjoyed your streams this evening. Hope you managed to clear your head and are feeling better. Have a brilliant weekend Nat 💛

Jordan Belfort

My favorite movie of all time. Knew this day would come eventually. First time watching a video as soon as it drops

Jgeir

Yay! Friday night settled! 🎞️🍿🎥🎬

Jordan

Very excited for this one!🔥 I love that one wide shot outside the hotel when Teresa catches Jordan cheating, despite the sad context of the scene I think that’s my favourite shot of the movie, so beautiful! Hope you’re having a great week mate, this post cheered me up so thanks:)

Tijmen ter Beek

My Netflix version is constantly out of sync :( Its like the netflix one is a few percent faster

Ian

Apparently a lot of the insane party scenes were extremely watered down in the movie. Can't imagine how stupid they were in real life

sammi

I'm guessing that you're located somewhere in Europe. You can try running this line in your browsers console on the YouTube page: document.querySelector('video').playbackRate = 1.0427 It'll make Natalie's video play about 4% faster which should make it match the Netflix version where you are

Tay Schumaker

The chest thumping/humming thing was not in the script. It’s apparently something. McConaughey does to relax before scenes and Leo saw him doing it and suggested they add it to the scene

Ken

Two 'lighter' Scrocese films with much, much more likeable and sympathetic characters are The Color of Money and Bringing Out the Dead. I hear what you're saying about this and Goodfellas, and I don't think you'd get to the end of those and not care.

LightsCameraJake

When Mathew does his chest thump routine, he didn't tell Leonardo he was going to do it, or the director, and it confused lionardo so much that you can see Leonardo look at the director who is off screen during that scene but they both liked it so much they kept that specific take in the film.

Tay Schumaker

I saw this in the theater with my then girlfriend and future mother in law. It was…awkward

David Nesbit

Don’t give up on Martin. Not all of his films are lengthy drug induced tales. You should try 1 ) Hugo - Asa Butterfield / Christopher Lee / Ben Kingsley / Chloë Grace Moretz 2) Bringing Out The Dead - Nicolas Cage / John Goodman / Patricia Arquette 3) Cape Fear - Robert DeNiro / Nick Nolte / Jessica Lange 4 ) The Color Of Money - Tom Cruise / Paul Newman / Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio 5) Raging Bull - Robert DeNiro / Cathy Moriarty / Joe Pesci 6) Taxi Driver - Robert DeNiro / Jodi Foster / Cybill Shepherd

Tijmen ter Beek

Thanks! I downloaded some chrome extension but this is way easier. Will finish the movie with this setting. So strange how its a few % off

LazyArtist

You know, Natalie, a movie you might really like (perhaps in your personal time) is New York Stories, 1989. It's actually three short films, from three different New York directors (Francis Ford Coppola, Woody Allen, and Scorsese) bundled together into one movie. I always thought Scorsese's contribution to that movie is one of his best efforts. Another flawed protagonist (Nick Nolte) tortures himself through an apparent lifelong series of failed romances in order to give energy to his life a painter. Scorsese in short film is likely more palatable than Scorsese in longer form. He really does have the habit of telling wonderful characterizations of insufferable characters, but sometimes he let's us see deep into souls (even without saving any cats).

Justin James

My favourite Scorcese films are "After Hours" and "Taxi Driver". You'd probably also really enjoy "Hugo", Natalie.

RJ Films

As it got the scene with Jean Dujardin as the Swiss banker, it reminded me of a film I'm sure Nat would love. "The Artist", made in 2011, and won the Oscar for best film. Hopefully, that makes it onto a poll eventually.

Razor Bikini

Two movies, two days in a row, two white guys Natalie mixes up. Doesn’t get better than this.

Jake Potrebic

The MC at the end of the film introducing DiCaprio was the real Jordan Belfort btw. Just a fun easter egg. Another absolutely wild thing, is the real Jordan Belfort has a podcast now and actually had the FBI agent responsible for his arrest on for an interview.

Razor Bikini

The story I heard is that McConaughey does that to warm up before shooting, and Leo saw him do it and suggested that they use it in the film.

djKENTO

People who really REALLY love this movie tend to be a walking red flag to me hahahaha.

LightsCameraJake

He suggested that they keep it in the take after he saw him do it for the scene, in that scene in the movie, you can see Leo look over a bit at the director off camera. He stated he looked to the director off camera in a state of confusion but it fit so well that he suggested to keep it in the film xD

Ridley

i liked yesterdays movie more than this one somehow lol

Diiirk706

L O V E this movie, Fkn hilarious, seen it like ten times at this point, the score is out of this world as well. Always down for a Scorsese joint.

Chris H

You should watch Moneyball! It's so good.

Samurai Shampoo01

I legit remember watching this movie and 21 Jump Street back to back at my friends house when i was 14 and it was... an experience lmaao

Alex Caudill

I think a Scorsese you would really like is The Aviator. Leo plays Howard Hughes and Cate Blanchett plays Kate Hepburn.

Alex

you should watch Shutter Island, The Aviator and Silence. These Scorsese movies should definitely change your opinion on him. These 3 are tonally a lot different than what you've seen.

Anthony Curione

You should rethink everything if this movie keeps you away from Martin Scorsese's other films

Julia

Fun fact: The man that introduces Leo in the final scene at the seminar is the actual Jordan Belfort!!

Mastervodo

Did you catch Stormfront (Aya Cash) in the movie Nat? I had a feeling Nat wouldn't necessarily "like" this movie so much, because of how unlikable Jordan Belfort is in the movie. The debauchery is quite shocking, even after watching it several times. Margot seems nice.

Marcus Carter

best part of this reaction is seeing Natalies' eye twitch lol.

Drew

You exactly nailed it with the Dionysus reference, in that scene on the plane Belfort called the flight “Bacchanal”, Bacchus was the Roman version of Greek Dionysus

Herb123

The stock broker character with the bad hairpiece they keep making fun of in the film is the voice actor for Bolin (P.J. Byrne) in the legend of Korra btw

Jay Robert

In case no one mentioned it yet, in the last scene, the man introducing him at the seminar was the real Jordan Belfort.

Lana Gorgeous

The man who introduced him at the end in that last seminar was the real Jordan Belfort! He lost all his money but rebounded and he earns about 18 million annually today and Steve Madden also went to prison for like 3 1/2 years, but he also rebounded started a billion dollar company and today his net worth is over $300 million. So what was the actual morale of this film. That FBI agent probably retired and all the time riding the train with that expression on his face :)

Christopher Henderson

Sonic The Hedgehog would be great for the second channel!!!

Rime Pendragon

I feel bad for Natalie, she keeps picking Scorsese movies about assholes :-)

Chris Lane- Venturi 3D

If you don't like those movies, you probably won't like Scarface much either as it's got a lot of the same things in it, though I do like the movie

Daniel Vezina

Exactly how I've been feeing about Scorsese. Great movies, don't care about watching any of them again.

Mastervodo

I was thinking this too. As Nat says, "Scarface has been on my list for a very long time, but has never won a poll". You know Nat - maybe just scratch that one off the list. It really isn't worth your time.

Keith Jacobsen

Nat, I wonder if you'll ever watch Taxi Driver (1976) or if an older film like that wouldn't resonate with your reaction base. Here's hoping.

Yusuf

Watch 'Saltburn' next!

PrayTellCaesar

I definitely resonated with your outro. These kinds of stories aren't my cup of tea. Hard to invest 3 hours into the life of a complete asshole 😂

Thomas Richter

I also not much of a fan of Scorcese movies. I can't relate to the characters because his movies the main characters just pisses me off.

Thomas Richter

His first wife is in Season 2 of Fargo.

Thomas Richter

Wait, did you watch Taxi Driver already or not? I'm not finding it on Patreon

dieselbeast

I love this movie lol from a professional standpoint, (I understand how the debauchery can be off putting) 😂 but don't you dare scratch Scarface off your list lol it's a must watch for any reaction channel from a business standpoint it does great numbers on YT 🤷😁 Edit after watching your reaction: No pun intended but this reaction was Gold! In my top five of your reactions 😁 I enjoyed it very much thank you Nat! 🙏

sammi

No worries, I'm glad that it worked! The reason for the speed difference is that Natalie watched the movie at 23.976fps, while the version on Netflix in Europe plays at 25fps. The reason for that lies in old, now mostly obsolete broadcasting standards.

Christoph Plank

I watched this in the cinema with my mom

Christoph Plank

No one said you need to like or identify with the characters in a movie. The point of view is important.

Walter Lopez

Scorcese's filmography is literally all about either asshats getting themselves killed or going to jail! 🤣 Except for Hugo, I guess🤪

Ben Hooppell

I can't believe that Stormfront worked as an assistant on wall street before joining The Seven, what a glow up

Lee Smith

I totally understand that. I have to be in the right mindstate to watch a Scorcese film. If im not, its so overwhelming and by the end its tiresome. Not to say they arent good, of course. :)

Slick447

Movies like this just remind me of how much these assholes get away with. Even the ones that get caught don't get nearly the punishment that they should. But my gripes with society aside, great reaction Natalie! There were some great shots, but there were also very odd choices like the final shot of the seminar audience or the decision to stick on the Swedes having fake sex under the sheets for more than a second.

Purple Cowboy

I'm only 2m31s into this reaction, but you saying you don't like Scorcese didn't shock me or make me mad, but honestly surprized me. I've learned just by listening to your commentary that you're more than just a little familiar in the film industry, not sure how but I can recognize the "slang" 😅 Anyhow, I hope you'll get to see Scorcese's newest one "Flowers of The Killer Moon", it's beautifully made and DiCaprio's performance is as good and as committed as it was in Django Unchained. (imo ofc) Also just wanted to thank you for doing this and continuing of doing this. I'm glad I "stumbled" on your reactions, bc most of the previous ones I've watched or some that I still do, wear me out with the lack of knowledge how motion pictures are made. Having studies cinematography and done 4 years of film school, it is sometimes very frustrating, when something that has value or is unique, gets completely overlooked and/or underapreciated, because it's not understood. Mostly because it's something that the general audience member wouldn't know about and/or understand. My brother works on big productions on the SFX and I appreciate every time I get the chance to pick his brain on something. Most he can't ofc not get too much into detail on due to the NDAs etc., but what he can tell me always festinates me. So having someone doing reactions who knows the field. So thank you and I'll gladly continue my Patreon Membership here! 😎👌🏽
