My first time watching, but I heard Benoit call Andi “Helen” before she gets shot and I was curious but dismissed it pretty quickly. Would probably be an interesting watch a second time just to pick up on scenes like that!

rian johnson has made clear each movie is going to be completely different from one another, which is refreshing to hear. love the campiness and the over-the-top characters in this one especially. the fashion is also a standout to me, and the interior design. you noticed miles' self portrait, did you notice his angelic portrait of kanye? miles is unreal

Another instance of Miles being dumb that doesn't get pointed out in the movie: On the beach when he's playing the Beatles song "on the guitar Paul wrote it on." Not possible, Paul McCartney is left-handed.

If you were curious, Rian Johnson has now said that until the big reveal, Miles actually did think it was Andi. He just assumed she survived his attempted poisoning. Also: one of my favorite little touches from Johnson, he did a video on YouTube breaking down Knives Out and let audiences in on one secret. Apple will let people use iPhones for free, as long as no villains use them. That's what gave away the killer in the first movie, because Chris Evans used an Android device. So, in this one? Everyone uses Android... except for Miles, who doesn't own a cellphone.

Had a question, you use a Sony camera right? How do you bypass the 30 minute record limit? Or do you have to restart recording and resync and we just don’t see it in the full length? Odd question I know, just trying to find a good camera lol. Thanks!

Another great rewatch with you Natalie! Since all other commenters have done a good job dissecting the movie itself, I thought I might as well mention the reason you probably didn't hear as much about this movie compared to the original Knives Out is that Netflix paid for this movie (and the next one) and as a result it had a very abridged movie theater run - only two weeks! - and then it was gone for a month before it appeared on Netflix right at the end of the 2022. The original movie had a full theatrical run, so a lot more people had a chance to watch it in a shorter amount of time and the discourse was more notable. I was lucky enough to see it in a theater and was just waiting (and waiting) for a month until enough people watched it to talk about it!

I have a friend that worked as one of the crew on set of the Glass Onion. Said he loved it and the cast was all amazing.

I like them both probably equally. They are totally different types of murder mysteries. Knives Out as you said starts with the murder and follows the investigation part like a Sherlock Holmes. Glass Onion is more of an Agatha Christie style where the characters are set up first, then we get to the murder, then the solution is laid out. On second viewing if you pay attention you can even see some of the clues like Miles taking the gun and him handing Duke the drink. I watched the scene with the drink before Duke's death in slow motion and it looks like they manipulated the frames to make it not so obvious. Pretty slick. I also think I enjoyed Knives Out more, but Glass Onion was funnier. The characters were more over the top. Fun tidbit: I'm pretty sure the guy that played Derol also played the Trooper in Knives Out. The one who was the mystery fan.

I enjoyed this movie almost as much as the first one, but I think Knives Out will stand the test of time a bit better. This one's topicalness will eventually date it. Or maybe turn it into a time capsule of sorts, who knows?

This was AWESOME. I fuckin' loved this movie. And I'm pretty sure Birdie & Peg are not just in an, uh, work relationship.

I loved how different the two Knives Out are, I hope we get more! My favorite thing as I've gotten older is campy but interesting stories with great acting and unique characters. And I love it when they delve just enough into cheese that it makes the story so much fun but not unwatchable.

Also, the guy in the beginning you suspected was a composer is Yo-Yo Ma! Also, since Natasha Lyon is one of the people in Blanc's zoom game, have you ever seen But I'm A Cheerleader? Classic queer movie starring her and it's hilarious.
