The trilogy is still so good. I dont rewatch 4 and 5 often, but the first 3 I rewatch alot.

Hey Nat! I agree and vote for 2 and 3, but no need for 4 and 5 :) Really loved getting to watch Curse of the Black Pearl with you! Such a classic :D

The Trilogy are really fun as a package, although 2 & 3 suffer as individual films because of balancing issues. That said, there are things I absolutely LOVE in 2 and 3, and your reactions Nat make me think you should watch them until the end (of part 3)!

Amazing reaction! I think it's worth checking out 2 and 3 not so much 4 and 5 but if you feel so inclined I wouldnt mind revisiting them.

Curse of the Black Pearl is a great movie and i like it. I don't love it though. Like Nat said, it nails so much of what it's trying to do. Fantastic characters, great acting (Geoffrey Rush ❤) and pitch perfect tone. I think the reason i don't love it is because the story is a bit on the weak side. It's fun and snarky and cool, but it never gets exciting because there's never really a sense of danger. I do think Nat should watch the second one, at least. A certain vfx in that one is a damn leap for mankind. 🐙

One of the really fun things about this movie when it came out was how well it incorporated elements of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. A lot of the vignettes in Tortuga, including the guy sleeping with pigs, were from the ride. So were the outfits worn by Scarlett and Giselle, as well as some of the dialog ("Strike yer colors, ye bloomin' cockroaches!"). Disney has since updated the ride to more closely match the movies, and while I understand why they did that, it's kind of a shame that the cleverness of the original film will be lost to newer audiences.

I love the whole franchise in general. I think the Gore Verbinski era of PIRATES gets a little weighted down with politics, but I still love them. I think the standalones with ON STRANGER TIDES and DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES are really great too. I hear Margot Robbie might be taking a plunge into the franchise, but I think because of THE SUICIDE SQUAD and BIRDS OF PREY not doing all that great brings into question if she could bring in an audience coupled with the Depp vs. Heard stuff everything is up in the air. Oh, dude! Nat, have you done THE SUICIDE SQUAD? * By the way. Dig the new resolution and that neon "Stay Golden."
