The guy in the end credit sequence that you thought was the maestro is a cameo by Marc Shaiman. Prolific composer, often with a humorous bent; he's written musicals (Hairspray, Catch Me If You Can, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), a ton of movie scores (a literal ton), and began his career alongside Bette Midler as her piano accompanist when they were playing bath houses in NYC.
