Hey guys!

I'm currently traveling now and just have a quick, technical update for you. I just received a DMCA strike for one of my ATLA videos on Google Drive. Very strange considering I don't even show the episode imagery or audio, but I've since restricted all of my ATLA videos and will likely restrict access to all my Google Drive links, as I've found them to be pretty useless anyway since I started uploading YouTube videos.

That's all! Just wanted you to know why those videos are no longer available via Google Drive. You can still access them via YouTube.

Thanks for understanding and hope you're all doing well!

thanks for the update!

How do you get a DMCA strike without audio or video?

RandomAndysChannel

Was that also for youtube or just Google drive?

My Toasty Toast

It sounds like it was just a bot, as no audio or video is shown. It doesn’t affect me as I watch through YouTube but it may be worth fighting it in the long run (when you have the time and energy to do so), as Google owns YouTube and if you happen to get a strike on your YouTube content they may decide to count it as the second one.

That's a shame. FWIW I actually use the Google drive links because I like to download the videos. It makes it easier to sync with the shows. But it is what it is I guess.

Darryl Low

Better safe than sorry Nat. Very frustrating to get a strike on video and audio that can't be seen or heard 😔 Take care Nat 💛

Steve J

I think I saw something a while back that Google was going to start monitoring Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms for things it didn't think should be there. Likely a bot as mentioned. Probably just the title got it flagged since something named like 'Avatar_S02E03.mp4' etc, would look sus.

Travel safe!

Move to Canada. We don't care about DMCA notices. Also, we have socialized healthcare and maple syrup!

Joe Blankenship

Okay, but when are we gonna react to The Binge on Hulu? That could be good for 2nd channel too.

Jason Gillman

Shame as I also like using Google Drive because it’s easier to sync up, especially since I watch using discs for most content

Alan Kobb

That's OK. I've stopped using Google Drive. Have a great trip, Natalie!

Ulrich Unterbrunner

Shame. I liked the DL on GD, because sometimes there is a speed difference of 4% between the reaction and the video on demand and VLC lets me speed up the replay in these small margins.

Thanks for the update safe travels Nat 😊

Thank you for the update Natalie! Enjoy your trip. :D

I only download the videos from the google drive, sad to see that feature go. I didn't even know google drive could give DMCA strikes, especially for something that doesn't even show whatever they're striking.

Hiyo! I read your post and figured that I'd offer a possible solution. :) If you use a desktop/laptop to watch this content I've got something that'll allow you to download whatever video she posts to YouTube, so you can continue to enjoy while not using the internet. (guessing that's why you chose to use google drive, at least?) Anyway! My suggestion is that you use a handy addon called Video DownloadHelper. I'm not sure what browser you use, but if you're using Firefox, Chrome or Edge it's easy to acquire. https://www.downloadhelper.net/install There's a link to it. :) Once it's all setup, pretty much al that you'll need to do is click on it and it'll find whatever video sources are currently in use on the page that you're on and make it possible to download the video. You can find tutorials on youtube for it here - https://youtu.be/CBiwes2Bc7Q Sorry about the longwinded message! xD I'm just trying to help out. :)

It would have been some bot crawling that simply saw the title and issued an automatic, blind notice. Companies are well known for not caring about issuing false notices, that's for sure. If you do keep using GD, one thing some reactors do is give generic titles to their videos, like s2e3. People know from the posts what it is and can rename it themselves when downloading.

You can try another Cloud Storage Solution Like Nextcloud (which is a free open source software) hosted on a service provider like Linode ($5-30 a month). It works basically as a replacement alternative to Google Drive.

That is quite odd! I guess you got a strike for your video's title. Enjoy your travels, stay safe and healthy, Nat!

David Holmes

That’s sad to see as I was going through your older reacts and was on the second lotr movies. Oh well.

Thanks for the update, and enjoy your trip! 😄 Take care, be safe and stay golden 💛

Hope the traveling is going well! Such a shame that a strike happened, I always use the Google Drive download but making the switch to watching the YT version is a small inconvenience and better safe than sorry <3

The YouTube player will let you set a custom playback speed now, you'll still be able to do this =] otherwise you can use jdownloader to grab the file from YouTube. ✌

Pickupthepieces76

Let's say it was the episode itself and not a reaction. Isn't google drive for personal use. You are allowed to have a digital copy of a movie/show you bought. If you share the link or give people rights on, does that equate to publishing something publicly?

Anonymous

We are paying for it, it's not like she is sharing it with her room mate.

Jomero

Good luck! I will say that I personally haven't used the google link ever since I installed a youtube "popout" Chrome app (and that was many many months ago). So ditching google uploads, at least for me, is not an issue.

Patrick Armbruster

If you're uploading from a Mac, there sometimes are strange ._somethingsomething named files that have recently tripped up GoogleDrive with Copyright strikes. (It's a standard file for Macs that are hidden for Mac users but show up on other systems.) Just make sure to delete those files and it should be fine.

Onno Smits

Do what you feel is best, but I just want to add my voice to the chorus of people saying they actually use and really appreciate the download option. Viewing it off YouTube doesn't work with my setup, and the audio quality is also significantly better on the download than it is in the YouTube encode.

Anonymous

Dang. Do what you have to do obviously. I prefer the Google Drive links but of course, you've got to focus on what is best for you and nobody wants to deal with DMCA.

Damnit Google; Fkn hate not dowloading Reaction Vids....sigh

Joel Kachappilly

Ik u prolly not takin in new show suggestions rn but as a new patron I'm j gonna feign oblivion at that fact and suggest u check out Succession for a reaction series. I actually j finished season one out of three and idk what direction the shows gonna take but I would love to watch ur reactions as I continue to watch more. It's j a really good drama show and is like such a high quality show. Thanks for the dope reactions so far tho, I love ur channel and vibe.
