MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE FRIENDS!!🎄☃❄

Hope you're all doing well out there and enjoying this time of year. I know it's a little strange to be posting an X-Men movie on this holiday, but since Patreon is so much farther ahead than YouTube, this is how things shook out.

Either way, I'm so stoked to be diving further into the X-Men films with y'all. And the next one is DEADPOOL!!! Woo!

Until the next one, happy holidays and ✨stay golden!✨

Also, just want to give you a quick heads up. I filmed this a long time before I had even posted "The Wolverine" on YouTube or Patreon and so I completely forgot that there is a "Rogue Cut" version of this film. Now that my Wolverine videos are both live and I'm seeing all the comments to "watch the Rogue Cut for DoFP", I'm face palming myself that I didn't. I ended up just watching the regular version that's on Disney+.

I'm so sorry!! I promise that once I'm back in LA and in front of my film set up, I will go through and watch the scenes from the Rogue Cut that I missed out on seeing the first time. Thanks for being patient with me during this process. It's really hard to plan for all this stuff sometimes when I'm working ahead. The Marvel/X-Men universe is full of lots of little intricacies haha.

Happy Christmas Eve Nat. Been looking forward to watching this movie with you.

Anonymous

Can't wait for Deadpool next!

Anonymous

I’ve been looking forward to this one for months

Joe Blankenship

YES! I'm psych'd for this one. Great movie. Natalie, have you seen Dazed and Confused? Or Tommy Boy?

Randee Carreno

Happy Friday & Merry Christmas Eve, Natalie! 😊 Downloading this right now to watch tonight. This one, and one other one of the "X-Men" movies are the only two that I have seen until you started watching this series. And I LOVE this movie! The "Time in a Bottle" sequence is my favorite part of this movie. And I keep forgetting that Jennifer Lawrence is in this movie series. Definitely looking forward to watching this reaction this evening. Have a great day & weekend! 😊 Stay Golden! 💛

Anonymous

Thanks Nat! Love this. My favorite Xverse movie. Great Christmas gift. Can’t wait for Logan and New Mutants. The other two are optional lol imo

Dante

This is my second favorite movie in the X-Men universe behind Logan. Deadpool is my 3rd. Getting to the good stuff now!

Anonymous

Great. It is a theatrical cut?

Anthony Campbell

yes!!!!!!! I was so hoping we got this movie this week!!! Cant wait to watch your reaction. Deadpool is next If i am not mistaken!!!!

Anonymous

Merry Christmas from Australia

TrackHoodie

wait up wait up! You were singing a lot yesterday??? Can't leave it at just that! For what? lol

Anonymous

Dazed and Confused is my favorite movie, would be great to see her watch it if she hasn't

Isaiah Mesa

Yes! This feels like a gift from you!

NotlobParrot

"This is Fresh Air, I'm Terri Gross. On the show today, we have Natalie Gold. Natalie is very tired, and her voice needs a break, but she's here to watch an X-Men Movie anyway. Natalie welcome..."

JediLounger

Don’t worry about missing the different cut, this is the one we all saw first anyway. Checking it out later is a great idea. I hope you have an awesome Christmas, and be safe. Looking forward to Deadpool!

Nicholas Hentges

Yeah getting to the scenes later is a great compromise, no worries, I know you will enjoy them though.

Andy Jordan

The title was inspired by The Moody Blues' 1967 album "Days of Future Passed", one of the first concept albums (the most well-known song from it is "Nights in White Satin"). Can't wait for Deadpool! Happy holidays, Nat! Cheers!

Tay Schumaker

I believe Jackman said this was the movie he finally achieved the body he had in mind when he got the Wolverine part. He’s so jacked and cut in this

Jonathan Flick

Honestly, the Rogue cut is a pretty substantial change, especially to the last third of the movie, with 17 extra minutes of footage not including all the altered scenes . I'm not sure it is even worth watching the cut/alternate scenes out of context. Might just be confusing.

asia roberson

Deadpool is before days of future pass but whatever

PickettsChargingPort

Been waiting for Deadpool/Logan/Deadpool 2 forever

Ricardo Chavez

Charles doesnt freeze time he shuts down peoples neverous system and or brain

THE LORE!!!

I'm glad Peter Dinklage's American accent sounds so good to you, Nat because he's from New Jersey haha.

Anonymous

"Erik and his little balls." BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Anonymous

I wouldn't be too upset about not watching the Rogue Cut, Nat. Her subplot diverges from the main story a little too much and doesn't really add to the overall film besides a longer runtime. That's pretty much why it was left out of the theatrical release. Also, that line from Peter about his mom knowing a guy who could also control metal is a reference to the fact that Pietro and Wanda are Magneto's children in the comics. And Charles doesn't freeze time itself, he freezes people by controlling their minds. They're stuck in place until he decides to release them. So to the people he hasn't frozen (and to us in the audience), it appears as if time has stopped. But it hasn't, only the people under Charles' control have stopped.

Sean

Huh, no one's answered that one question about Peter's throwaway line "My mom knew someone who could do that (control metal)." In the comics, Magneto is the father of Wanda and Peter Maximoff. I never watched the later X-men movies so I don't know if that's true in them too.

Kalle-Tapani Isomaa

Yey Deadpool next. I cannot wait. Reason Magneto can fly is because he himself is kinda like magnet. He can ad positive or negative magnetism around him so that way he make himself fly. Remember when in First Class he tried to stop submarine but it was pulling him with it.

Navjot Singh

Charles can't freeze time. He freezes people by blocking the responses from the brain to their nerves effectively shutting them down.

Navjot Singh

Yep. Also at that point Disney/Mavel didn't own X-men characters so they never could use the story that Magneto is their father. And Fox didn't have the right to use Wanda. Hence in X-men movies Magneto is the father but in MCU, their parents die in Sokovia.

dieselbeast

Yes! I love this! Can't wait till Deadpool! I love you're reaction to this and I love your hair so beautiful!!! ❤️🌹

Navjot Singh

Erik can fly using earth's magnetic field to guide himself.

Isaiah Mesa

Charles can't stop time. He pauses the people so that he can talk to someone one on one.

Garrick Smalley

Re what you said about Wolverine being the only one. In the original comic of this it was Kitty who went back in time, not wolverine.

Omni Jacala

Easy to misinterpret Charles's ability to "freeze time." He's not actually freezing time. He's just controlling the minds of everyone in the room and making them stop moving and likely stop perceiving anything, and then selectively allowing certain people in the room to continue functioning freely. The filmmakers probably could have made that read more clearly if they showed that everyone is still breathing. They really do look like they're frozen in time rather than just compelled not to move.

Endling_king

what it boils down to is they really did Rogue dirty in this whole series.

Thomas Malley

Professor X can't freeze time, but he can freeze people :)

Anonymous

Charles can freeze minds, not time. And Sentinels have no mind "per se"

BNJ

Peter Dinklage's American accent is so good because he's actually American 😂

Kevin Mowery

In the comics, Kitty was the person who got sent back to save the future. Elliott Page's star was rising at the time, but Hugh Jackman was so popular that they rewrote the story so Wolverine could be the main character.

Rey

And now you can finally watch deadpool and Logan

Jomero

In response to the "Huh?" from Quicksilver saying his mom once knew someone who could control metal.... In the comics, Pietro and Wanda are the offspring of Magneto. It was a kind of funny nod and wink to that. As for Dinklage's accent.... that's his normal accent. He's an American. But now you know how our accent sounds to a British person! It's very odd. I had the same reaction when I heard Alexis Denisof's and James Marster's (from the shows Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel) regular American accents.

Tony Sanson

This really is one of my favorite X-Men movies, and I've been waiting for you to get to it. But from here on out if it's not Deadpool, Deadpool 2, and Logan - skip it. That end credit screen was teasing the next movie, X-Men: Apocalypse, and its titular bad guy(who is one of the better villains from the comics)...which despite having a great cast, is a shit movie. And I didn't even bother with whatever the last X-Men movie was since that was crap too. Also, fun fact: This movie came out about the same time as Avengers: Age of Ultron, and there was a LOT of discussion about the use of Quicksilver (Pietro/Peter Maximoff) in both films. It boils down to both Pietro and Wanda being members of the Avengers and mutants, which left them fair game for both Fox and Marvel to use in their movies, only Marvel couldn't use the twin's mutant origins (hence it's the Mind Stone that unlocks their power) or have them be the children of Magneto. It's also a big reason Pietro gets killed off in Age of Ultron. Also, what gives in these types of demonstrations where the Shiney New Thing is loaded with live ammunition? A weapon's test I can understand, obviously. But when you're just presenting the SNT to the public (or a board room) why is it always loaded?

djKENTO

I love how Nat keeps taking about Peter Dinklage’s “American accent”. That’s just his voice. He’s American and from New Jersey. Hahahha

Brian Jones

Great reaction as always Nat.... Hope you and yours have a very merry Christmas and looking forward to Deadpool. Stay golden.

JayF

Time in a Bottle is easily the best scene in any superhero movie IMO. Natalie, why you keep calling Magneto "Ericka" towards the end? Also, not buying you complaining about naked Hugh Jackman in movies. This would be like me saying, "Why the hell is Marisa Tomei naked again!?!" ;)

Topher Cast

Let's goooo! And it was looking to be a boring Christmas eve. Couldn't be with the family since one of us got covid, so we are quarantined and waiting for results. This saved my night!

Chief

Nat asked what the point was of Storm hitting Bishop with lightning - Bishop’s power is to absorb energy directed at him, which, in this case, he then uses to charge his weapons.

JarHead0351

Thanks Nat - was looking for a movie to watch and you have picked one we both will like

Anonymous

Yeah, there is so much that makes no sense and gets no explanation. Like Kitty getting new powers. (I try not to judge these compared to the comics and base my issues with the actual film making/writing etc.) Rogue just being back at the end for absolutely no reason. (I know there's an alternate cut that has her in the future scenes but I can't bring myself to watch it.) The serum that hides Beast so he can "hulk out" and the same thing totally lets Prof X walk...what? Like I know it's basically fantasy, but that is just lazy writing. Your accidental puns/innuendos and your instant regret/laughter was the best part of this reaction. This is the movie that killed what remaining interest I had in the X-Movies. Age of Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix are so so bad. I will watch your reactions to continue putting the nails in the coffins of this iteration of the franchise. It was really interesting seeing your reaction to Quicksliver/Pietro/Peter in this. His action scenes were great. And there are great moments in all of these movies, but as a whole...not so much. Like you kept begging for Prof X to freeze time, conveniently not working when it would be really useful. (I'd chalk it up to the he cant control machines, but he does stop other non-biological things every other time he does it.) The end scene of the Wolverine makes ZERO sense other than showing Prof X is back (with no explanation) and Magneto is back to his seeming fully powered self. All in all, it was an entertaining reaction, as the always are. And as far as how you want to talk/record, the playful intros, etc, dude, this is your channel. You do what you want! Your personality and humor are what makes watching all this stuff like this worth while. Stay Golden, stay you.

Daniel Vezina

If there's a director's cut, always watch it. 99% of the time it will be better. Deadpool is gonna explain all the inconsistency. So for Deadpool 2 it's the Super Duper cut. The Rogue Cut give us Rogue taking Kitty's power when she's injured and finish it, so you see her before the end.

Jason Dolan

I'm sure a lot of people here will concur but you can now jump right to the DEADPOOL LOGAN DEADPOOL 2 trilogy of awesomeness and get to APOCALYPSE, DARK PHOENIX and THE NEW MUTANTS down the road.

Edgar

or just dont watch apocalypse , dark phoenix and new mutants. Honestly i xmen ended with Logan for me personally .

Anonymous

Happy Holidays!!!

Tiger Chu

"What's the point of shooting through the portal like that?" Because it's much safer than jumping through and falling to his death

Eric

This is actually one of the better X-Men movies (low bar - I'm not including Deadpool; both are fantastic. Or at least, fantastically fun). But it epitomizes maybe the biggest problem with the X-Men film franchise: they forgot it was *X-MEN*. They thought it was the Wolverine ft his friends Prof X, Magneto, and Jennifer Lawrence. This story should've been Shadowcat's story; Shadowcat and Bishop. But the "creatives", using the term loosely, behind these films were always ashamed that they were adapting comic books, and that just poses such a major problem when trying to adapt it. I'd argue an insurmountable problem. Yeah, comic books can be cheesy, and convoluted as hell... they can also be uplifting and heart-warming and fun. Nothing wrong with not liking them... but maybe hire people who DO like comic books to, you know, write and direct comic book movies?

Edgar

I mean at the end of it , making a good movie should come first over making a faithful adapatation.

serendib

Time is a perception. Charles can't affect time itself just how others perceive the passage of time.

minuteforce

I think the extended cut is overrated, personally, but I know many people seem to swear by it

Wu Sha Ling

"apocalyptic" how appropriate

David Olden

“He can make people VOMIT?! That’s his thing?!” Yep. Pretty sick, huh?

Jacketb

If anyone is actually upset about not watching some other cut, they're just splitting hairs way too much. This will be great for my flight home from Xmas, thanks!

Kelvin

ASMR Nat wow

Adam Grunther

I think you’ll enjoy X-Men: Apocalypse. It is not NEARLY as bad as people say. It’s honestly pretty good.

FatLittleButterfly

loving your hair! Xavier freezes people, not time

Anonymous

unsubscribing unfortunately because this is one of the few movies i'll actually watch. these tv shows are just awful imo. bye

G. T. Blackwell

For your merch: A t-shirt that says, "Eric, with his little balls."

YodatheHobbit

Every so called inconsistency(other than Charles walking in the begining of Xmen the last stand) is resolved at the end of this film due to it being an alternate future. And obviously is isn't a leap of logic to assume Mystique had been in and out of prison her whole life. It seems every time you think a plot point doesn't make any sense or doesn't have a reason you try to call it too early before it has a chance to present itself. A lack of patience, such as thinking Eric lifting the stadium without a plan of what to do with it. Just wait until the story/plot point is finished before insulting it. You're not SUPPOSE to know yet.

Sean Stuart

Another good reaction. Before Logan might I suggest another couple of Hugh Jackman movies. The Fountain (Brilliant sci-fi about life and death) and les Miserables (don’t know how hard youtube reactions of musicals are)

Annie519

This is my favorite x-men film! It is SO good and in my opinion James Mcavoy stole the show! My favorite scene is when he's talking to his future self, he is so good, when I first saw that scene it gave me chills and any time it showed his pain you felt it! To me this was the first film that dived into the fact that Xavior feels everyone's pain, just like it's happening to him, he hears and feels their cries and suffering, you instantly saw that with Logan and the fact that he learns to bare that pain for the greater good and he could have been selfish and continued taking the serum, continued to have use of his legs but chose to be so selfless is amazing to me and he doesn't get the credit he deserves as a hero, young Xavior I mean. I was also glad that they didn't make the movie all about Logan because that always seems to be the case, they focus on him so much that they sideline other characters but I thought they used him very well. I know Kitty was the one that went back in time in the comics but that wouldn't have made sense for these movies, they have far more history then he and Kitty do.

Marcus Carter

Just to inform you, professor xavier doesn't freeze time, just the people, but time continues to move forward, also, I believe you'd be glad to know that some of the actors and actresses will continue playing their characters in the MCU, also Wanda will more than likely be facing off against one of the xmen in Dr. Strange 2: The Multiverse of Madness, they're bringing the xmen in through use of the Multiverse, like all of the events of FOX xmen took place in another universe and remains canon in the MCU.

Inhuman Paradox

"Professor X can freeze time" No, he can freeze people through their minds. Sentinels don't have minds.

James M

Well, Peter Dinklage is an American actor. 😎

Mister Lou

I know you're excited for Deadpool, but PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE! also check out X-Men: Days of Future Past: The Rogue Cut. which I'll admit has minor but yet amazing differences.

Foxyguava

while it'd be nice to see, that is hardly worth the couple of hours of watching, and several more of editing lol.

George

A common misconception is that he just controls metals. He actually has the ability to control the magnetic fields. This is how he can levitate by shifting this field and thus negating actual gravity. Although in this film it's probs his metal in his outfit.

Kevin

Professor X cannot freeze time, he simply stops everything that can be mind-controlled to stop, he's only a telepath. To the sentinels he would have been an easy handicap man kill.

Kevin

The whole time I was like... Where is rogue??? Then I realized this wasn't the rogue cut duh!

DJ Harrison

Love the hair! 👍

Cory Silver

So I've never seen the Rogue Cut myself, I actually have it, and was about to watch it on my own, then like, watch the normal with the commentary. It's weird. The different versions of a movie... do you watch theatrical, or the better versions? I think the version of Batman V. Superman on HBO... The uh, Ultimate Edition. I liked the recut a lot. I have not seen the "Sneider Cut", but apparently that's a lot better too. So then it comes down to, just watching something, vs. watching it with the commentary. I will say that on a few occasions I've watched things for the first time with the commentary. Like the Marvel shows, they get like, week one commentary on them. That's a very different experience than watching a movie you've already seen on its own a few times. I'll let this comment stand on its own and write another one for the actual thing, since I haven't even pushed play yet. It's always great to have a reason to watch the movies again. Whether it be official Directors commentary, Rifftrax/MST3k stuff (Red Letter Media has some great commentary tracks!). Both of those are usually done by people who really know the film. But the blind watches are great, because there's that sense of wonder. The double blind is great too, but, it does mean I can never just, watch the vanilla movie or show blind. There are enough things to watch blind though. When there's a commentary thing available, I tend to go for it.

Cory Silver

About Wolverine's fear of flying - https://scifi.stackexchange.com/questions/79327/why-is-wolverine-afraid-of-flying So think about it, he's in a plane, over the ocean, it crashes.... Wolverine won't die in the crash. https://screenrant.com/can-wolverine-swim-metal-skeleton-adamantium/ Wolverine naturally sinks. So,,,, he could find himself at the bottom of the ocean. Wolverine needs to breathe, so... Long story short, being stuck at the bottom of the ocean would suck for Wolverine.

SuicuneSol

Professor can't freeze time. What he was doing was freezing people's minds. That's why he can't freeze the sentinels. They're robots.

Anonymous

Magneto can fly because he has balls of steel.
