Happy April Fool's Day, Nat! Getting this downloaded right now to watch tonight. 😊 This season has been really good so far. Looking forward to watching this during the evening. Have a great day! 😊 Until the next video, Stay Golden! 💛

Darryl Low

Nattie G aka The Prankster ha ha 💛 It is amazing how quickly the shows disappear when you get into the groove with them. Already looking forward to next week's episodes. Thanks Nat.

Ian

You so should have pranked us Nat 😂 next time 😉 just got off work for Easter break so this is the perfect way to begin it, thankyou Nat 💛

Paul C

I was strangely expecting a Rick Roll video...

BJ Stephens

Lol, you could have uploaded something completely different and posted it as GoT. ;)

Troy B.

I would have welcomed a light-hearted joke. Too many of my friends these days are bitterly anti-April-Fool's, which I find more off-putting than even the corniest corporate prankery out there. But hey, it's the thought that counts! Instead we can relax with more death, betrayal, dismemberment, and child trauma! *throws confetti* (I'm just guessing as to the episode's contents, I haven't watched it yet.)

Luis Torrefranca

Morality and the ability to play the game are independent of one another. Didn't want to say it regarding Margaery's behavior toward Renly in earlier episodes, but now her motivations are clearer and how she's is playing.

MertzRocks

Pyromancy = fire magic. Ilyn Payne = Royal Executioner (killed Ned, remember?)

Calo Grsf

Thanks Nat, always on top level haha Too bad it's so short, I feel like I'm cut off in the middle haha I can't wait for the next episodes and tomorrow's reaction 😜 I hope you're fine, be safe and stay golden! 💛

Tranquil_Gnome

Another fun episode. Love that you are really getting into it. Pyromancer is a person who uses magic involving fire. In this case it is just a title. They are more chemists making the wildfire than wizards using magic. Magic used to work in the GoT world but it stopped for some reason. The Maester told Bran a few episodes the same thing. -mancer means one who uses magic. Put a Latin or Greek root word in front of it for the type. For example, necromancer is a sorcerer of the dead. Hydromancer is for water. -mancy is the magic by itself. Pyromancy is fire magic, Necromancy is death magic, Hydromancy is water magic.

Here's a great video made by HBO to explain and give better context to the events before the series. Spoiler free. Just lets new viewers have a better understanding of the world of Westeros. I always tell people who are about to watch the show for the first time to watch this first. https://youtu.be/6uE04nQfO-Q

Zach Greenleaf

Natalie, have you ever looked at a proper map of Westeros and Esos (land across the Narrow Sea)?

Anonymous

Roy Dotrice (the pyromancer) voiced all 244 characters in the GoT audio books, which got him the world record.

I think this is the point in the show where paying attention to the music becomes even more important. Like most things, the music is very purposeful in the scenes they are included in but more so in this than just general tone setters you see in other film/TV shows. Every family has their own theme, so learning the individual themes is a great way to discover the hidden context of a scene. Specifically the Lannister, Stark and Baelish themes.

My_Cousin_Mose

I was waiting all last week for another GOT video drop and this week I get 3 in a row. Yessssssss!

RE: The sun in the opening credits. You'll also notice the sun is floating and the land itself is curved inward. Which means it's a "Dyson Sphere" situation. The sun sits in the center and the land itself is the inside of a sphere that completely encompasses the sun. I don't know if that is how it is in the books (likely not, else there wouldn't be nights), but it's an interesting design choice for the intro.

Iylan Pain is the Bald Kings Landing Executioner hes the guy that got his tongue cut out and Joffrey used him to cut off the tongue of the one guy singing the song. He also was the one to cut Neds head off.

Are you gonna watch Friday for Good Friday? It’s Friday, you ain’t got no job, and you ain’t got shit to do. We gon get you high, Craig.

Alan Kobb

"They're not Lannisters, they're Iron Men." Having trouble keeping the series straight, Natalie? As a rule of thumb, if it's Monday then they're Iron Men. The rest of the week is for Iron Islanders. :-)

nataliegold

Haha I’m just bad at coming up with April Fool’s jokes. I do appreciate them tho

Thomas Yanez

It is difficult to not yell at the screen sometimes when she goes off in a random direction that doesn't match what the story is telling her explicitly. I think my favorite from this episode would be her exclaiming "Why does he want to marry her?!" and then talking over Xaro specifically telling Dany why he wants to marry her.

Troy B.

To be fair, it's an easy thing to forget among all the way more interestingly named things.

Mike H

Go 'Cuse!

Ellis Hugh

I love her reactions but I do worry about her missing things... and that makes a bigger difference in a story with such dense history and intrigue as this one.

Ellis Hugh

It's well established that you (Nat) hate Jamie, and with good reason... that'll be interesting to watch.

Ellis Hugh

Natalie Gold & Natalie Dormer... my two favorite Nat's!

Thomas Yanez

Now I'm trying to picture our Natalie with Ms. Dormer's trademark smirk.

A Vicarious View

Ilyn Payne is the Royal Executioner. He was only doing his job but she's still understandably pissed. lol

Donovan Sparks

Don't worry about the people yelling at you about talking over the show and missing things. If they don't want to hear your commentary, they can just watch the show by themselves. Sure, you might miss some things here and there, but I (personally) enjoy hearing your thoughts and reactions as the show plays on. We all know (at least I do) that you watch the shows at least a second time during editing and may catch some of the things you miss. But I can assure you that most people miss things on their first viewing of this show in particular. There is so much going on! Please don't let these few people sway you into not reacting anymore. Most of us love the way you enjoy these shows/movies. Keep em coming!

Ellis Hugh

A little explanation on what's going on with the Iron Islanders, the Starks and the Lannisters, from a tactical perspective. Think of the lands of Westeros as an hourglass, with the north basically being the top and everything else basically being the bottom (not exactly true, but it works for this explanation). There in the middle is a highly defendable fortress known as Moat Cailin. While Rob Stark and the armies of the North are down in the South battling the Lannisters, the Iron Islanders intend to capture Moat Cailin and use it to keep Rob from sending forces back North as reinforcements while they rape, plunder and burn as much of the North as they can, in part as revenge for the defeat the Iron Islanders suffered at the hands of the North when Balon Greyjoy attempted his rebellion. This invasion isn't intended to be permanent as the Islanders are great raiders, but not really capable of fighting wars on land or holding castles against a siege. Theon, his pride wounded by being given such a meager task by his father, has decided to try and earn the respect and admiration of his men by going after a much bigger prize - Winterfell itself. He takes it upon himself to make an attack on Torrhen's Square (a small village not far from Winterfell) to draw out Winterfell's few remaining defenders, which includes Ser Rodrick (the guy with the braids tied under his chin) and the 200 men that Bran authorizes. With Winterfell almost completely undefended, he feels that with his knowledge of the castle and the Starks, he can capture the fortress and present it as a mighty gift to his vengeful father. Any more than that would be spoilers at this point, but Theon's story arc is one of the best in the entire series, so its important to understand how he begins down this road.

BTW, Nat (can we call you Nat?), this series launches with a ton of history already having passed, history very relevant to the ongoing story and jumps right into the middle of a ton of plots and moving parts, so its very easy to get overwhelmed or confused and say 'ummmm... what?'. By the second season this show was largely being viewed in groups and there was almost always a 'book reader' among those groups to help explain a little background in a non-spoiler way. It seems like you might have somebody knowledgeable there to provide some reference for you (Tyler maybe?), but I'm sure you also have a great many fans (like me) on these Patreon boards who would be more than happy to fill you in without spoiling anything, so if there is ever anything at all that you're curious about, please just drop a question - I'm new here so I don't know if there is a preferred way of communicating with your Patreon members but I haven't seen any posts from you anywhere else. A little background knowledge would probably go a long way in expanding your overall enjoyment of the series which, let's admit it, we're all keen for. We just don't want you risking googling anything as there are SO MANY surprising developments and the spoilers out there are copious to say the least. Thanks for being you! :)

I'm not sure if you've found out yet, that Osha is played by the same actress that play Nymphadora Tonks in Harry Potter.

Steven Tarsitano

yeah, you have to learn that this show is brutal and nobody is safe. glad to see you are beginning to learn. but you are still a sweet summer child. don't worry though. at some point as you watch the show, you will no longer be. everyone else knows when.

Alan Kobb

I don't think it comes up in the show, but in the books, the pessimistic guy is called Dolorus Edd. (Dolorus meaning sad,) He's not really sad, however, just dry. According to George R.R. Martin, edd said he was recruited for the Night's Watch by Yoren, who told him that women loved a man in uiniform, but failed to mention that brothers of the Night's Watch could not marry. I'm not 100% sure if that's true or just more of his dry wit.

Joe Gemino

Is it blurred out for yall?

Anonymous

yes, the idea is you watch the episode legaly by buying or streaming. copyright issues.

Shawn E Mercado

totally get it but it would be cool if it showed like maybe the time index or something? it can be hard to keep it synced especially if you come back to it in the middle of the episode

MertzRocks

Pyro = fire ; Mancer = magician Just like a necromancer is a death magician or wizard, a pyromancer is a wizard of fire. In GoT, the wizard designation is very limited, unlike in most other fantasy -- whether movies, TV or gaming. Also, wildfire needs at least a spark to ignite. Just breaking a pot won't do it (but it's not a good idea to break one by accident, regardless... lol).
