Darryl Low

Happy Marvel Monday Nat. Hope you had an awesome weekend and enjoyed your zombie stream. It was a lot of fun 😊 Not seen Blade since it first came out, so it will be interesting to revisit it. Looking forward to more F&F this week as well. Ha ha this was certainly a fun reaction Nat 😄 He never gets splashed. It just flows like blood off a vampire's back. Your simultaneous WTF? with Blade was so great 😆 Thanks for giving us a blast today Nat 💛

R.J.Anthony

Hope you watch the 2nd too its great, 3rd one not so much.

Rey

Fast and the furious on halloween just feels wrong

Danishprince

Blade is the original Marvel movie - Their movies would have never evolved to what they are today if not for the foundation laid by Blade <3

Baggie Mark

Hi Nat, I remember really enjoying it when it came out, unfortunately it all went horribly down hill when Wesley Snipes fell out with the director while filming Blade Trinity (3rd in series), where Snipes allegedly refuse to film anything apart from his closeups, so his stunt double had to film the rest.

Grigsy

Omg! This is one of my favorites of all time.

Andrew Zachman

Without this movie there would be no MCU.

LittleGalaxyBoy

Blade (1998) undeniably set the stage for future Marvel movies, but I don't think it "saved" Marvel. By the time Blade came out, X-Men was already in production, and Sony had acquired the rights to Spider-Man, with work on the script underway. So, regardless of Blade's performance, we likely still would have seen X-Men (2000) and Spider-Man (2002) hit theaters. These two films were more impactful, both for Marvel's growth and for pop culture in general, and they helped shape the pathway to the MCU, which officially kicked off with Iron Man (2008) thanks to the success of these earlier Marvel hits. Interestingly, the Spider-Man: The Animated Series (1994-1998) heavily inspired Blade (1998). The script for the episode "Blade the Vampire Hunter," which aired during the series' second season in 1996, was so well-received that executive producer Avi Arad shared it with the writers of Blade. They used it as a reference for the film. This same episode also introduced Whistler, a character who made the leap from animation to live action in the film thanks to this script. So I'd argue that the Animated Interconnected Marvel Universe of the 90s (X-Men, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four etc.) had a much bigger impact of the idea of developing live action Marvel films. Also, a lot of people still don't realize Blade is a Marvel character. This makes sense, there’s no Marvel intro, and the film doesn’t really emphasize any "Marvel" branding that might connect with the average viewer. Surprisingly, some people didn’t even realize X-Men or Fantastic Four were Marvel characters, which, as a comic fan, is hard to imagine! But with so many people associating Marvel primarily with the MCU, there’s now a disconnect between the MCU and anything Marvel-related outside of it. If movies like Blade, X-Men, or Fantastic Four aren’t connected to the MCU, some viewers might think, "Well, this isn't Marvel." That assumption couldn’t be further from the truth. These characters are essential parts of Marvel’s comic legacy, and it’s fascinating to see people exploring these pre-MCU Marvel films without realizing they’re part of the Marvel universe. It's a reminder of how much the MCU has shaped the public's perception of Marvel, creating a divide between its shared universe and the films that helped pave the way... Well besides Spider-Man, everyone knows that Spider-Man is Marvel by default.

Lobos625

I'm glad you enjoyed it. Hopefully you will atleast watch second one. Watching all 3 would be nice but I get it if you dont watch the third

Christopher Henderson

Blade had his mother’s id that might’ve gave him an idea on how it went.

Christopher Henderson

They were in production but i guarantee Blade made them invest even more. Also X- Men doesn’t age very well especially in comparison to Blade.

Boomcity

"Mommy, no!" Some great Nat quotes with this reaction.

jamie jones

Blade 2 is better than blade. Just sayin

Rogier Oude Heuvel

All this hate on the third one, Its not the best but I thought it was still a fun action flick. Thats the thing about these movies, its just entertainment, don't think/question it just enjoy it.

jamie jones

Dude snipes was jealous of ryan Reynolds having so many lines, he was violent with cast and crew, refused to communicate with anyone including the director and had his assistant gives them written notes, frequently refusing to shoot scenes often forcing the director to use stand-ins and computer effects to add his character to scenes. This isnt a case of he was mad cause they weren’t treating the story of blade with care. That is revisionist history. He was a dick to everyone during filming of trinity and literally everyone involved has stated so.

Rey

They were making the blade the side character in his own movie, mahershala ali recently had the same issue when he saw the script for the new blade movie theyve been trying to make

Narutoanime16

Its sadder the actor for Whistler just recently passed too and I love Blade just for his style and his story is pretty cool he's half vampire and tries to kill as many as he can with help from others. Cool to see more of the monster side of Marvel which I often forget about

jamie jones

Snipes literally tried to strangle the director. Youre going to justify it by saying the script sucked?

Christopher Henderson

I'm gonna justify because the director and execs were greedy bastards riding on the success of previous films to gain more money.

Alan Felicia

Wow! Blade Reaction! The very beginning of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it came from New Line Cinema! LOL! Blade 2 was even better (& directed by the great Guillermo del Toro)! Thanks, Nat!

Mastervodo

Now Nat knows about the line about ice skating uphill.

jamie jones

No it wasnt. It was confirmed by basically everyone involved. Ryan and wesley explicitly said they hated each while in that film(more so welsey),but they made up years later. And snipes literally only filmed close up scenes and forced them to use stand ins for everything else and only communicated with the director using post it notes. Those are facts

Christopher Henderson

Like I said debunked Ryan and Wesley never hated each and that film was garbage the whole premise was lazy. They tried to rely just the headline of Blade facing a legendary horror monster. Only for it to end in a lame ass sword fight. If I was Wesley I'd be ppissed too.

Kyle Turning Robe

It seems like YouTube knows what movie you're reacting to cause the movie always go on sale for purchase lol Yay

The Dingo

Technically, the Dolph Lundgren "Punisher" was the first one.

jamie jones

Them saying now that they always liked each other isnt debunking. Just them being professional and courteous. It was well recorded that snipes didnt like ryan while filming trinity. And yeah the film was garbage, no argument there. But thats not an excuse for welsey to treat everyone like shit. The executives ruined that movie. Apparently a better darker script was written and the studio wasnt having it. You cant take that out on pa’s and everyone else who had no say in that.

Logan Kerlee

Where are your thoughts on the movie? lol, I always enjoy watching those after the movie wraps up! Sorta disappointed not to see that.

MightyHobo

Believe it or not the second one is even better lol

Alan Felicia

LOL! No Way! Fun Fact: that 1989 movie did not have a wide release in theaters here in the US b/c the Studio's (New World) financial difficulties, the movie went straight to Video!

Taff Lewis

Love it when I'm late to reply and someone has already covered my points and educated me at the same time. What an awesome Sub-base you have Nat!

Taff Lewis

What a "Perfect" reaction to a late 90's movie. You covered all the bases, caught and commented on (I think) almost every important nuance. This Reaction Begs for 2, which leads to 3. and 3, well 3. Let's say I didn't care for Ryan Reynolds until Blade 3. for me "he made that movie. Also....

Taff Lewis

What does everyone else think about a "Near Dark" reaction? I would guess she's likely not seen it.

Kyle Turning Robe

"Mommy No!" Lmfao you always crack me up. Great reaction as always lol

Rogier Oude Heuvel

She does, but in the Edited version that goes on Youtube, there she does a full review after the movie with grades and stuff.

Keith Jacobsen

"Blade! I'm stuck in the dryer!" 😂

Nicholas Farley

Day 1 of asking to watch Jujutsu Kaisen

Rob E

If you’re on a vampire kick. I highly recommend Castlevania on Netflix

Razor Bikini

Yeah I think the problem here is that, a lot of us ignore the YouTube videos and just watch the full reactions, so it kinda feels like the overall thoughts are just missing. I don’t personally mind, if it makes Nat’s life easier and helps her manage her schedule better, but I get why some aren’t a fan of the new way of doing things. I must confess I’m also not very fond of Nat’s new review structure and scoring system, but I think I’m in the minority in that.

Baron

every time Nat says something is on prime but you have to rent it....

Baron

also BLOOD RAVE!

Iamdavegregory

ok so that was cool, i recorded my reaction while watching you react while watching the movie. an inception of reactions i thought itd be funny, which it was, parts i normally don't react to i did because of you so that was fun. definitely gotta do this again

Brandon Hinton

the sequel is just as flashy and exciting as this one, in some cases better!

Ashley

all those meows and growls in deadpool and wolverine must have been a reference to blade.

Rob E

I’d love to see more older Superhero film reactions from Nat especially the Revee superman films and the Burton/Schulmacher Batman movies. They’ve got such a charm to them even some of the not as good ones.
