Deadline brain--it's a thing. Trying to rewrite Curses (again-I think this is the third full rewrite? Plus lots of revision?) and I keep forgetting to do things. I need to start leaving myself post-its around the house like Joan Wilder in Romancing the Stone. Actually, I just want to be Joan Wilder. Anyway, I thought I'd share a wee snippet from the current rewrite. All you really need to know is that Fedorova, one of the suitors, has been turned into a swan.

Also, it's been awhile, so if any of you have any questions about my books, writing, or whatever, comment below and I'll do my best to answer them.

Curses Snippet:

The band started warming up, the teasing notes of a fiddle floating through the air. Merit heard a throat clear below her and looked down. Fedorova the swan preened next to her.

“Would milady grant me the first dance?”

Merit frowned. “Can you still? I mean, not to be rude, but—” she waved a hand at him, indicating his avian status.

The swan ruffled his feathers. “I’m an excellent dancer, milady, do not worry.”

Merit didn’t think the mechanics would work the way Fedorova was used to, but she decided not to argue. The first dance was a country reel anyway, so she figured they could manage well enough. He wouldn’t have to hold her like a waltz and she could grasp the tip of his wing as easily as if he still had a hand. It wouldn’t be any worse than dancing with the other suitors.

“I would be happy to join you, then.”

The swan extended a wing and she gently grasped the tip. She wondered briefly if it had been a mistake to forbid the fairy godmothers from their magic. Her suitors would likely be much easier managed if they were all turned into birds.

With the amount of stress and anxiety I've had in the last 9 months, I've had to start leaving post it notes all over for myself due to ruining my short term memory at this point. They really so help! I also have a day timer, but it's not as in my face as the post it's. I have felt so much more productive and not feeling like I've forgotten things that needed to be done since leaving myself notes. If you keep a stack of them with you, that helps you stick them wherever you'll end up doing the task so you remember better! I hope Curses hasn't put a curse on you and you still enjoy the writing process! I love to read the updates

I often have a stack of sticky notes on my laptop, notes on my calendar and in my phone, but my usual system of chaos isn't working and I need to go back to the post it thing.
