So this video is not mine--it was a promotional bit from the movie Gentleman Broncos. Jemaine Clement plays a Scifi author and these videos are hilarious. (I think there are two of them?) My husband kept sending them to me when I was under deadline for Pyromantic and they crack me up.

So, first, bad news. My agent has asked me to shelve Curses, the YA book I've been working on for two years. What does that mean? It means that for now, it will not be my focus, and I'll go back to other projects. This is...frustrating. It's difficult to not get depressed about it or see it as a waste of time. Or consider, again, throwing my laptop in the garbage and becoming a goat farmer.

It doesn't mean I won't go back to Curses and try and fix the issues we're having. A few amazing author buddies of mine are looking at it to see if they can figure out what's wrong, which is a tremendous gift of their time and insight. Nothing is ever a waste, writing-wise, and I'll get through this.

The good news--I'm back to working on a cowritten YA book with Martha Brockenbrough. We had a draft ages ago, but scrapped it and are doing a rewrite. It's nice to get back to it.

I'm also going to try a new thing on here. I have some pages off to my copy editor, and I'll post them as soon as I get them back--which should be in the next day or two. Basically, I'm going to try and write a novella, and you guys get to be my beta read team! I think it will be for an older audience, but to be honest I don't really think about that stuff until after the book is finished. But it means I'll be posting a lot more, and faster than I was, which is good. I know I've been pretty slack on here lately. All I can say is there has been a LOT going on in my life and I appreciate your patience.

Oh, and my former editor Noa Wheeler (we worked together on NTS, Firebug and Pyromantic) is currently looking over my next story bundle for download. We're on the way to prepping it like we did for Freaks & Other Family. So for those of that have done the higher support tiers, you'll get a bound paper copy. We're basically keeping it as ebook only. It will be the Katya story and the Three Little Bears one. Noa is a great editor and will likely change the stories a bit, so the finished product may vary from what I wrote on here. Noa has always made my work better, so I'm looking forward to it. For those of you that are on the smaller tiers--I'll figure out a way to put them or a link up here so you can read the edited and polished versions. Don't worry!

Thanks again for being part of my support team! You guys are the best.
