It hurts so much seeing Nathan in pain like this, but I absolutely love that scene between him and Karen on the River Court! Karen's struggling with Lucas moving in with Dan, Nathan's struggling with Haley going off on Tour with Chris, and also the fact that he basically doesn't have parents at the moment. And they're able to kinda be what the other needs. And I love Nathan apologising for the way Dan treated her. And the comment he made about Lucas having his own Basketball Court in Dan's driveway really hurt because THIS HAS BEEN HIS FEAR SINCE DAY ONE! He's of course gonna have some bitterness over the fact that it seems that Dan is able to just replace him like that... He was terrified during the first Season that Dan would see that he chose the wrong son, and now it must feel like that's happened. And he must feel kinda betrayed that Lucas would move in there knowing how he treated him. It all HURTS! But I love Karen hugging him and being there for him. I wish we got more of them together tbh.

What makes this show so fantastic is the cast, every actor can take dialogue that sounds silly or over the top and make it feel organic and heartfelt. The writing is up and down but the cast is always consistently good at making it feel real.
