Thanks for this second reaction. Don't worry too much about the police procedural parts...FOX TV wanted more of that and the writers (as they have often said in interviews) wanted less of that and more of the story of Lucifer and how he interacts with humans etc and what this will mean for him. The police parts are just the hook on which the characters connect, and Luci learns about humanity. Sometimes they are great and other times more just in the background but always have some relevance to Luci and his journey on earth. Trixie is adorable- agree! The actor playing Lucifer (Tom Ellis) as TrackHoodie says brings a lot to the table and this continues throughout the six seasons. He deserves awards for his often nuanced, clever and complex character portrayal. As well as Lucifer, as the season and seasons progress all the characters are fleshed out and we learn more about them and how they affect Lucifer and how he has an effect on their lives...it's fabulous casting and great story telling. I think Amenadiel will surprise you! Just one quirky thing, and apologies if you have already been told but after the Pilot episode, all other episode titles are a line from the episode in question. Many of these lines are spoken by Lucifer but not all and it does become a little bit of entertaining fun to identify the title in the episode and see who said it! Two episodes in and i am already excited for you to continue and hopefully laugh a lot but continue to be amazed and enjoy the ride. Thanks again.

The police side of the story is a metaphor or reflection - of things one or more of the main characters has to learn about or deal with rather than the essence of the story. Double meanings and these metaphors or reflections of storylines is a thing with these writers and they weave a rather intricate tapestry of inter-related threads in the complex and satisfying story. And as Amenadiel said here, Lucifer is also an Angel, one of the brightest Angels in Heaven at one time..... In fact the name Lucifer, from Latin means bringer of light or light bringer....
