Underwhelming for a penultimate but more than made up for in the 2 part finale. Don't get too hyped up for the whole league of villains thing btw lol. Lois is kind of making that old outdated fan argument that Superman should never get married or have kids lol. The whole argument of whether Clark should have a life and balance it with his hero duties or fully devote his life to being Earth's savior was the writers teasing us with whether or not Smallville's Clark would fully morph into Chris Reeve's Superman who was very much the later of those two choices. "Even though you've been raised as a human being you are not one of them." The original showrunners' ending was to have Clark go to the fortress for 12 years and come out Christopher Reeve's Superman. Watching this final season 11 years ago you really didn't know which direction they were going. It's handled beautifully in the finale as far as which path he'll take. From almost the moment Kara was brought on the show the writers never really knew what to do with her. They made her too powerful too fast and it made it difficult to navigate both her and Clark. To be fair the newer showrunners kinda got stuck with it but it should have been handled better. Just send her to the future wasn't the answer lol. But the best thing here is the set up going into a truly great series finale. Can't wait for the reaction!
