I enjoyed this episode. It's not as strong as Checkmate but it was solid like most of the episodes this season. My issue with Chloe wasn't the stockpile but the fact that she kept it from Clark. And it blew up in her face. Pretty literally actually. Now there's no stockpile which was a necessary precaution. And her reason for not telling Clark was based on Doomsday, and Jimmy dying as a result which imo was mostly her fault. It's the hypocrisy. "He is it, for me." What can you even say about that line lol?. The interesting thing about the development of Clois is that Clark isn't hiding his true personality from Lois. He may be hiding his powers but the way he carries himself is on full display. In older Superman stories, the Clark Kent that Lois met was a character he created in order to stand a part from Superman. Superman was closer to his actual personality lending itself to Lois falling for Superman first. Here in Smallville, he's basically his Superman self just trying to figure it all out. It makes sense that she would fall for the Clark. Post Crisis on Infinite Earth's in the comics, the writers went more toward a dynamic where Lois had a deeper connection with Clark which was shown in Lois and Clark (Dean Cain and Terri Hatcher) around the same time it was happening in the comics. Smallville went further with it and Man of Steel and Superman and Lois followed suit. The struggle Lois has between her love for Clark and her need to do good by helping The Blur is a conflict that creates some great drama and the next episode is huge in that regard. It's one of my favorite episodes of the season. Top 5 easily. Can't wait for your reaction.
