Art Sample 29: The Monarch Inn Staff (Patreon)

You guys have already met Camellia, and you'll be meeting the other two staff in Alpha v1.04, but here you meet Bella and Argontel, both of them very good examples of the types of misfits you'll end up meeting in the Monarch Inn.

Bella is a refugee from one of the violent insect tribes of the wild islands. Did you know that the transformation from nymph or worker or whatever to Queen is one purely of nutrition? Eat too well, and a bee will become fertile when they really have no right to be. Bella is halfway through that process and frankly doesn't really want to complete it, so she's very careful to watch her diet because of it. In the case of Beefolk, it also involves keeping track of her magical intact as well. She's with Camellia due to Camellia's specific talents in acquiring things she really has no business acquring, but due to some other debt you might learn of eventually.

Argontel on the other hand is a mystery to everyone on the island. And I do mean everyone. She was found in a bottle in the cellar by Thrund and Camellia when they first moved into the Inn, and had no idea where she had come from, or how she had gotten into the bottle.

So does that mean Bella and Argontel are going to be NPCs with their own scenes? Does it mean that slimegirls and bees get taken out of the breedable monster list?

Kinda noticing a trend here. It would be nice if we could get some ladies with more realistic breasts, because so far there only seem to be 1 or 2 with boobs smaller than their heads.

It's been discussed with the team. We're going to push for more body diversity. The boobs are a little...extreme.

Would be nice to see women without enormous breasts, or guys who don't have six-pack abs. Body diversity is one of the primary failures of the porn industry, especially in erotic games, and I'd hoped Cloud Meadows would break that mold at some point.

I like the effect that Argontel's head-wear has on her hair stuff, it gives her a nice rounded and friendly feel.

A few month ago I was following progress on CM on an almost daily basis and was pretty sure I would support it at some point, it looked so cool. But these last designs pretty much sealed the deal for me, in the wrong way. Huge breast like these tottally put me off. When I saw the design for Camelia I thought "Wow, her breasts are larger than her head, that's disgusting. But whatever there are probably people who like this." But then the other design came out and almost every female character have humongous breast. I guess I'll come back in a few month to see if things have changed, but as it is CM is not for me.

As mentioned previously, the call for diversity has been made in meetings. We're very well aware of the lack of diversity and will be making strides to change it. We can't give an ETA when there will be change but we are definitely pushing it.

Yeah I saw your comment about, that's why I said I'll come back in a few month to see if things have changes. On another note, even if the game looks cool, I feel like it's not really a porn game anymore. Like many visual novel with sex scenes aren't really porn game either. I'm not saying that's a bad thing though. But I can understand why some people who were supporting breeding season (which was much more of a porn game in my opinion) aren't interested in CM. But whatever, it's still alpha version so wait & see.

They're the same body types of every female in the game, honestly the characters just feel bland, they all lack charisma and personality, there's nothing that feels unique, also, they all have the same faces!! that's why I stopped donating like 3 months ago. I still want to see this game do well, Spurple really needs to spend some time thinking about what each of these characters are bringing to the table. Every character is a message to the player, and so far the message has been the same "I like boobs". The protag is bland, I know the idea was to get a character you can "insert yourself into". But if this is a smut game, make the protag at least look good, I'm an artist myself, and damn guurl her hair looks like a helmet. I'm really sorry to go off on a tangent, I know that the team really doesn't want to deal with too much back lash, but I feel like I need to say my piece, I donated 30$ which is still something, and I hope that the characters improve because I would start contributing again if I actually felt inspired by the characters.
