Stuart:Look, we’re three parts deep into what has ended up being five. You cannot claim that we did not go deep and hard on Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Sorry for saying “deep and hard”, it implies that we experienced the game sexually, which I am sure is not true of my esteemed guests. I myself refuse to confirm or deny that such an event took place. What am I even typing at this point? To quote the icon of cinema known as The Mask, somebody stop me. Smoking!

Seriously – we love this game and I expect that’s quite clear from the effusive treatment we have given it. And yet, you must understand that we are approaching the game from a critical perspective as well as a gushing one; where we feel it makes any kind of misstep, we’ve tried to highlight it. But the goal of this series was always the kind of forensic examination of a single game that I’ve always, always wanted to do. It has been personally very fulfilling to produce this kind of analysis and I truly hope that our surely irrepressible chemistry makes it an entertaining journey.

There will be two more parts, hopefully in short order! But in the meantime, enjoy this middle chunk. Am I planning another deep dive once it’s over? Naturally. I have some other Sonic episodes already recorded, but they’re breezier single-show jobs. Look forward to those! And let me know what you thought of this episode in the comments section.
