Greetings everyone, we are back with our latest (and longest ever) community podcast! You may be surprised to learn that Stu was unavailable to record this one, but fear not, I reached out to newest Retronaut Jess "voidburger" O'Brien and she happily agreed to share her thoughts on recent episodes and events as well as read your feedback on the air. Don't forget to answer the community question at the end of the show in the comments below!

I brought up in natural conversation (I swear) but didn't remember it correctly so please accept my apologies and link you to the real Matt Alt tweet that makes a ribald reference to sexual activity in airplanes. Also, since Jess raises the question late in the show I am happy to report there is at least one Banjo-Kazooie randomizer out there so if you're hunkering for more collectin' but you don't want to know WHERE the bits and pieces are, you're in luck.

Voudburger's Johnny the Homicidal Maniac reference made me squee.

The next movie in the NCU is obviously that Ice Climbers movie we've all been clamoring/clambering for. It's essentially an even more psychological take on the movie "Cliffhanger," where Nana has to deal with loss of Popo on a routine ice climbing expedition. We'll need a talented, seasoned actress for the emotionally complex roll of Nana. I'm thinking Holly Hunter or Jodi Foster. Popo obvs Sylvester Stallone. Oscar please!

Realistically, we're not going to see Kirby or Metroid movies for a long time. We don't even see Kirby or Metroid games that often. The next movie will likely either be Zelda or Splatoon, with how hugely popular they are. My money is on the latter, because Nintendo seems to be playing it safe, and Zelda has so much lore and depth that might scare off moviegoers. Whereas Splatoon is just a silly world of squid kids in the world's most intense game of paintball.

Hope Stu had a lovely holiday, and he was missed, but I am stoked to hear VoidBurger on more Retronauts episodes. Very much looking forward to the Toonstruck episode!

Oh and for my NCU guess: I'm betting we get Mario spin-offs before we see new Nintendo franchises entering the fray. My guess is either a Peach or DK origin story.

it took me a long time to confirm what it even was, apparently different users could hear different tunes?

Forgot to submit Rockyman Road: Blueberry Ice Cream with White Chocolate chunks But will Detective Pikachu 2 resurface and get information, making it the iron man 2 prior to the team up?

Shrunken Shrine

If BotW voice acting is anything to go by, I honestly don't trust Nintendo to pull off a whole Zelda movie. Therefore, properties with a minimum of voices will probably fare better. I submit a dialogueless, Indiana Jones-swashbuckler Captain Toad movie as a B-tier, actually-really-good Ant-Man analogue. Picture it in your mind's eye for a bit, it works.

It's gonna be SMB2: Now With More Yoshi, a cynical Yoshi spin-off movie then an underperforming but actually quite good Luigi's Mansion isn't it? If I were in charge, I'd throw everything at a Aardman/Laika take on Earthbound which would both rule and bankrupt everyone involved.

Wood Duck

... I'm sorry gang, I only made it halfway through Super Metroid before putting it away because.... TotK released. I'm not made of stone damnit! Still I'm glad for what I played, and my verdict is amazing atmosphere, visuals, sound, map design. Mediocre platforming and combat.... that is still better than most third party platforming of the era. My highlights of the game were the way you could get ahead of where you ought to be with walljumping etc, the animals that show you how to do advanced techniques and finding a power up room, then finding a secret missile upgrade off to the side which then had a SECOND hidden missile power up next to that! Cheeky. So closes the book on WoodDuck and Super Metroid, a game that he should have played as a lad in the 90s.
