The recent Mario film has got us all in the movie mindset mood, so it's time to take a trip back to 1989 to revisit the first entry in the Nintendo Cinematic Universe, The Wizard! Critically panned and commercially unsuccessful, this family drama attempted to weave a heartwarming tale about how video games have the power restore a shattered family—but mostly, it just served as a Power Glove commercial and Super Mario Bros. 3 preview. On this full-length commentary, join Bob Mackey and Henry Gilbert as they talk over the 1989 film that shockingly outgrossed UHF.

Note: Commentary begins at 00:18, when the Universal logo has fully faded out on the screen.

I was there in the theater, and I wish I still had the mini issue of Nintendo Power that they handed out.
