I know, we blew it — this should have been episode 64, not 74. Please feel free to renumber the episodes ID3 tags on your computer as necessary!

This week, Bob and I invited IGN's resident classic gaming fanatic Jared Petty onto the show to discuss the 20th (!) anniversary of the Nintendo 64. It's perhaps less chock with unbridled enthusiasm as our Super NES episode, but amidst our (fair) criticisms we have plenty of good to say about the console! And its games! It occupies a strange place in history, with a relatively tiny library and only a handful of truly notable games... but brother, those games were amazing

There is, unfortunately, some audio distortion in this episode, likely from a cable that went bad without our knowing about it. We'll have it fixed up and our cables replaced by the time we record again (one month from now!), but in the meantime please accept our apologies for the jarring static sounds. They don't seem to have any correlation to our actions, and they don't show up on the audio histogram while recording, so we didn't know about them until after our session had ended.

Sounds like there's an audio bug around 18:53 (the music comes in early for a moment). Soaking of which, anyone know what that music is from? I know I've heard it before but can't place it. Anyway, loving this episode so far!

With THPS, you could hold the controller in a traditional sense, where the c buttons would map basically to their PS equivalent. I also used to hold the controller that way for non-SSB 2D fighting games and for baseball games

Thanks, fixed it for the live version. The music's all from Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness!

I did the exact same thing.... I bought one on launch day. But grew frustrated with the lack of quality games. I traded it in to supplement my PS1 habit. Then a year or so later purchased a new one because of Zelda, and Banjo!
